Great place to visit when in Cherrapunji. The caves are well lit inside and are completely safe. There are plenty of restaurants at the entrance that serve up some good food for the weary traveller.

Its compact smelly , if you are claustrophobic rather you should visit Arwah cave. Mawsmai offers excellent views of stalactites and stalagmites. Takes about 15-20 mins only at max if there is no crowd.

We went right during the diwali vacations and the caves were absolutely crowded. The formations were beautifil and the cave was pretty cool, but the amount of people in the cave at a time really took the fun away.

Mawsmai has a limestone cave, around 6 Kms from Cherrapunjee. An electrically lit cave tunnel, it is around 300 meters long. it doesn’t have natural light inside, but is electrically lit.
