This place was huge, I entered through the West gate. Saw a coffee of sign boards with different points inside this gigantic place. Great place for people who love to walk. I enjoyed my solo venture here. Couldn't see the entire place though, I was hungry and it was 3 pm. Came out .

Check the pictures.

Kangla fort is not like the fort we see in Rajasthan or Maharashtra. It is a well-maintained museum along with some temples inside the same campus. We rented a bicycle for an hour and enjoyed riding it inside the fort.

A great insight into Manipur's history, which is very interesting and at times brutal (hence the title of the review). Excellent gift shop - serves as a one stop for all your Manipuri memorabilia needs (minus textiles, of I'm remembering correctly.

One can spend some very enjoyable time here. You can rent a cycle @Rs 20/- per hour and explore the entire complex. Or take a guided tour in the golf cart@Rs 150. . Can have tea/coffee/snacks at a cafeteria inside.

If you are traveling to Imphal, Manipur and get a chance to see some must visit places, Kangla Fort should be on top of your list. It's a huge place and thus makes it next to impossible to see the whole place by walking. They have a guided golf cart/boogey facility and I would recommend that as you will come to know about the history of the place through the guide. It does comes with a price but believe me it's not that high rather reasonable and worth it. Entry also has fees but very nominal. It has got amazing history about Imphal rather Manipur and the place is very nice nad calm. It also has a musium inside.
Overall must visit place.

The Fort is surely the centerpiece of Imphal town - the region appears to be built around the Fort.

It is just beautiful! I would strongly advise you to opt for a ride in their battery car alongwith their guide. The area is vast and is no use without a guide unless you go only for three pleasant walk-about. And the guided battery car is so inexpensive! Even with the battery car it would take you about an hour to go around, take pictures, pause at various locations and savour the peace and quiet.

No use saying more, except that you must visit it!

Beautiful fort. With so much history.. Our guide took us around in a battery car and did a good job of explaining the history of every site there. Well maintained except for a small pond near a temple that was not so clean. Overall it was worth seeing.

One of the most attractive and MUST VISIT Places in Imphal. This Fort (palace ) was the place of Erstwhile Ruler of Manipur. Centrally located and well maintained. NOT TO MISS.
