About
There were originally some 950 burials in Imphal War Cemetery, but after hostilities had ceased, the Army Graves Service brought in graves from two smaller cemeteries in Imphal and from isolated positions in the surrounding region. The cemetery now contains 1,600 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War.

In the middle of the chaos that is India this war memorial is kept in pristine condition. Heartwarming to see that our troops are not forgotten. Thank you to all involved in keeping this a place of remembrance. RIP

Well maintained Cemetery, a somber image of the war (and war in general) seeing the graves of so many young people. The park that leads to the cemetery seems to be a hangout spot for the cities youth. We got to see a couple practicing a duet. Very sweet.

Located close to the Manipur Baptist Church and Kangla Fort North Gate is the famous World War II cemetery. This section is dedicated only for the British combatants, while there is a separate cemetery nearby for the Indian martyrs. The lawns and surroundings are well maintained by Commonwealth War Graves .

The cemetery is in Imphal town itself but is difficult to locate unless your driver knows where it is. You have to pass through a somewhat unkempt area to reach here. But once you do reach here you marvel at the excellent upkeep and presentation of this place. Calm and quiet as a cemetery should be. Graves laid out very methodically and neatly. Each grave marked with the martyred soldier's name and details - a few of unidentified ones too. Authorities have dinner a wonderful job of maintaining it in such trim.

A must see place in memory of the young who got martyred.

This is one of the most well-maintained war-cemetery I have been to. It is smaller than the one in Kohima but by no means should you skip it if time permits.

It closes down at 4 pm during the winter months. Unfortunately , we reached the place at 4.15 and by then they had closed. But we could see part of the epitaphs through the gate and the fence . It is situated in a by lane of Imphal city. The area around is peaceful and full of big trees. An ideal resting place for British Soldiers who laid their lives during the WW II .
