KOHIMA WAR CEMETERY lies on the battle ground of Garrison Hill. No trace remains of the bungalow, which was destroyed in the fighting, but white concrete lines mark and preserve permanently the historic tennis court.

The cemetery now contains 1,420 Commonwealth burials of the Second World War.

At the highest point in the cemetery stands the KOHIMA CREMATION MEMORIAL commemorating 917 Hindu and Sikh soldiers whose remains were cremated in accordance with their faith.

this cemetery is kept in immaculate condition, it is very quiet there - my husband found a gravestone of a solider from the suffolk regiment which was the regiment his father served in. it makes you feel quite sad but very calm

A must must visit for history buffs. This the place where one of the greatest battles in history took place. Countless soldiers laid down their lives at this very spot. The memorial is clean and very well maintained. Goosebumps when you see the historic plaque at the northern end.

We visited here on the last day of our eastern India tour and it was a good thing to see the cementry. So much to read and see when you enter the place with writings on the sculptures. Some good views of city from the top.

The war cemetery normally is a solemn resting place for the dead. This is built on a hill so it gives a good view as you go higher. There were a few local families enjoying a walk there. I did learn some history about WW2 and how the battle of Kohima was important from the signage there!

You cannot visit this area without paying your respects to the fallen at this memorial. The site of a vicious battle in WWII in which the Japanese army's advance was halted.

beautiful place to be, very well maintained. u can have a beautiful view of "bada basti" largest human settlement in Asia. the names of the soldiers inscribed from various regiments is overwhelming. and then there are some who could not be identified, so the graves just mention, " known to god"
