We, a group of 2 senior citizen couples, visited this Historical Gurudwara to relive the memories of release of Guru Hargovind ji, from Gwalior jail where he was imprisoned along with 52 Hill Chieftains (Pahadi Rajas). Empror Jahangir had taken ill and was told by his wife that the cause was imprisonment of a saintly person. He decided to release the Guru on an important day for Hindus, the festival of lights. But the Guru demanded release of the Rajas as well. Jahangir agreed to release all those who ever could hold his robe/dress. He showed very high levels of IQ by asking Empror Jahangir for getting a new dress of his choice, which he got stitched as a large Kurta, having 52 kaliyan or creases/sections. All the 52 rajas held one section and got freedom along with Guru Hargovind ji. That's why this is celebrated every year by Sikhs, across the world, as Bandi Chhod Divas or Day of Freedom of Prisoners.

One must visit this sacred place . Please note the cabs charges extra for going to Gurudwara sahib as its situated on the height of hill. Auto rickshaws are not allowed to reach directly to Gurudwara sahib . They drop you at the foothills and you need to go by cab again .so better get a cab from the city. Bargain well

The Gurudwara is located near to fort. One can drive or walk (more amount of time) to reach here. They have good parking lot and cleanliness in GuruDwara.

When entered inside you will feel the silence and peace. We sat there for some time . The place is very well maintained and clean.

You can have tasty langar as well and take Pinni Prashad (Delicious One) for your near and dear ones.

Gurudwara pertaining to the 6th Sikh Guru who had freed 52 Rajput kings from the Gwalior Fort on Diwali. Spot for communal harmony. Located inside the fort.
