Well in a natural and wide jungle area far away to Gwalior .
The Dam area is open near Village .
Cool and Quite area with full of nature.
Must Have proper shoes , if you think go to water so keep rubber shoes or chapples
Keep Hat or cap and water bottles and some snacks .
If you want you can ride the speed boat or basic boats.
You will go in evening if you time then you will see proper sunset.

Tigra Dam (also spelled "Tighara Dam") creates a freshwater reservoir on the Sank River, about 23 km from Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. It plays a crucial role in supplying water to the city. You can enjoy the boating with your friends/family. Surroundings are very calm and peaceful. We just sit there for 45 minutes and enjoyed the silence.

other than the main attraction of boating, you may have to go little further beyond say 1 km and then turn left which will lead to the hill. stop before you enter the stream. it is a rocky solitude place and can spend one hour just strolling on small rocks and puddles.

Though Tigra Dam has a place in the tourist map of Gwalior, the place is closed for the general public since last few months. We were not aware of this and we traveled all the way from Gwalior to see the dam and we were put to dismay once we reached there. The Govt.restaurant, though open, looked empty sans even a tea pot, not even a cook.So better avoid this place from your itinerary.

This is a about 100 year old dam that supplies water to population of Gwalior city. The reservoir is huge. This is a place worth visiting, but since it is situated in a desolate place some 10 km from the last corner of city, it cannot be visited every time. Best time to visit is when the locals go there, i.e. from July to October, when the water volume is good, it is a popular picnic spot. November to March are also worth visiting, but advisably in weekends. I would not advise visiting it from April to June at all because it is deserted and boating etc. also close down. Even in season, visit in daytime only.

This is the reservoir which supplies drinking water to half of Gwalior's 1.5 million people. The dam is almost a century old and still serving well. MP Tourism Development corporation operates boat rides (speed boats, pedal boats and a 20 seater motorized raft) which are fun. There is a restaurant offering fast food. A new facility offering lunch on a raft is being introduced soon.
