About
The closest public beach to Mykonos Town, Ornos is a relaxing and convenient getaway with a sheltered bay and shallow waters. Most of the beach is lined with sunbeds for rental—make reservations early to snag a spot, especially during summer. Though if you head away from the resorts, there are small public areas where you can lay out a beach mat. There is no lack of restaurants and bars, and most resorts here offer sea views. It's a popular stop along boat cruises around Mykonos, a great way to explore all the best beaches of the area. – Tripadvisor

- FPAdventurerMiami, Florida395 contributionsToo Crowded and SmallThe beach is small and not much to do there. Very few fish to see with your snorkels. The beach was very crowded and of course you have to rent at tourist prices the lounge chairs. Lots of boats park right in front so dont think you will be swimming too far either.Visited July 2023Travelled with familyWritten 29 February 2024
- Whitney KWoodhull, Illinois798 contributionsBeautiful viewsThe views here were absolutely beautiful and the main reason we decided to go to the beach while visiting Mykonos. I would not say the sand and water were anything exceptional, and it was on the crowded side. It was also very windy when we were here, but we spent a little time in the water and enjoyed the view!Visited September 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 6 April 2024
- Amy VPlano, Texas308 contributionsQuiet beach with great beach lounge chair rentals. Restaurants nearby. Recommend.Really enjoyed our visit to this beach. We rented the most comfortable beach lounge chairs with umbrella 15 euros per lounger. Nice service as well. Ordered cappuccino. Be ready for people walking around selling jewelry, linens, and other items such as massage.Visited May 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 May 2024
- Miguel PaivaMaputo, Mozambique1 contributionOrnos beach in MykonosPleasant atmosphere for family and kids, although quite crowded in this season. The beach is completely taken by private loungers that can go between 70 to 90 euros. Additionally, we ordered a bucket of drinks, but the restaurant charged us for the entire bucket even though we didn’t consume all of it. On our way back to the hotel, the restaurant arranged a taxi driver who charged 25 euros in cash; if you used a card, the fare was 36 euros—another unexpected expense. Also, be cautious of cars and bikes; sometimes they don’t give you priority!!!Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 16 July 2024
- LillekitteSollentuna, Sweden216 contributionsOK beach, conveniently locatedThis beach was the closest to our villa, and since we could either walk here or come here in just a few minutes by bus, it was our choice for the first beach day. We found it to be a nice enough beach with calm, clear water - but the sand is quite coarse for the most part. We were able to pre-book sunbeds at Kuzina - € 70 for a set of 2 beds and an umbrella, including towels (striped umbrellas around the middle of the beach). The sunbeds and umbrellas were comfortable and nice, and the service very good. Music was GREAT until lunch, after that it was a bit too loud and annoying for us. The menu looked good and the restaurant nice - but we chose to go next door to Kostantis instead, as they had a wider menu to suit our group, and we liked the style of the restaurant. Had a nice lunch there. Sunbeds at Kostantis are € 60/set (yellow umbrellas), but note that this does not include towels (€ 5 per towel or bring your own), meaning the price is the same as in Kuzina. All in all we found Ornos Beach worth a visit if it is conveniently located for you, but we preferred Platis Gialos Beach to Ornos.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 7 August 2024

Sunbeds aren't cheap but the beach bars are all nice and it's good to use their toilets, drinks, food etc. The sea is nice and clear and fairly shallow.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 August 2024
- Miljan KSerbia9 contributionsOrnos Beach Mykonos and parkingNice beach, not so much waves and wind, suitable part of Ornos. Sunbeds are also overpriced like on many places at Mykonos. Coffee or other beverages cannot be taken at the bars in restaurants if you are not guests - ridiculous. That is info from 2 main restaurants , one from the left and 2nd from the right after entrance. Parking - be very careful - price of 5e on the street to get your attention, but after entering parking spot, you can notice that this price is just for 2hr and 10e is for whole day. Again very rude guy with attitude that if you do not like parking you can go out , after we gave comment about lying with one price advertised on the street and reality is something different. Kindness at Mykonos is not which this island can be proud of. 5 or 10eur - not a problem, on some beaches is 15 or 20eur eventhough that sunbeds need to be paid from 50-70eur and parking should be free in that case. Nevertheless, tips do not need to be given to people like this because they do not deserve it, no matter how much your budget was predefined or you do not have budget and you spend by free will.Visited August 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 27 August 2024

We chose Pasaji due to the music and vibe and paid 70/pair. We had our lunch at Porto Ornos Taverna as we wanted to try some Greek dishes and in the evening sampled some amazing sushi at Pasaji.Visited August 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 September 2024

Beach was clean, children friendly and a very short walk from sand to ocean. We were blessed with a very calm sea for 3 days and the water was honestly Crystal Clear! There was one day where the sea was very rough due to storms, however you cant help Mother Nature!Visited September 2024Travelled with familyWritten 10 September 2024

Beautiful bay and beach in the southwest of Mykonos. A place to see and be seen. Several chic beach bars with loungers for sunbathing. Relaxing yet sophisticated atmosphere. You can easily walk down the beach and bay, about half an hour to an hour if you stroll and occasionally pause for a snack and drink along the quay. The drinks and meals in the bars and restaurants on the beach are pricey (mid-range to luxury). There is pleasant a bustle of fishing boats, private boat transfers and tours, tourists showing off while mooring their sailboats and motorized yachts. You can quickly explore Ornos Beach. It is enough to stay here for a few hours to a day. Nice for a while, but a bit too calm (too little choice of restaurants and attractions) in our opinion to spend several days. The best time to visit is during the shoulder months (April, May, September, October). Then there are less crowds and you can fully enjoy the view because the bay is not yet completely flooded by moored boats.

We chose to come here on a Tuesday as I read a review that the beds were cheaper to rent than Elia and that the sea had no rocks.
We paid 20 euro to get here via taxi and now we have arrived can not find any spare beds to rent across the entire strip. But if they were available the cheapest would be 70 euro for 2 with 15 euro minimum spend per person.
We have decided to get the water taxi back to our hotel’s beach and go back to the pool.
Not worth the money and there are many boats blocking the view and making swimming at any distance impossible.
Tips - reserve a bed prior and have at least 100 euro to spend.

Sandy Beach with plenty of sunbeds to rent, but too many boats. The air is filled with the smell of gasoline and there is oil or sunscreen floating on top of the water. The water is not the beautiful blue-green that you'll find off Crete.. This beach is on a sandy bay, not the ocean, so there aren't any waves to play in, but it is not rocky and you don't need water shoes. Music plays from the bars, but not too loudly. Food & Drinks are expensive. Comfy sunbeds with a towel, pillow, table, & umbrella are 30€ each bed for the first 2 rows and €25 farther back. Water is super salty and helps you float; and the water is almost too cold to enjoy in September, but the sun is still hot.

While it was very windy in Mykonos town a local told us this beach is always calm and only few km south - it was quite true. Had issues finding a parking spot as it was crowded around 3 PM.
Likewise other beaches it was packed with sunbeds difficult to walk between them.
I find it unacceptable to pay 30-70 Euros for 2 sunbeds and umbrella, so overpriced in fancy Mykonos. Free part was quite good and we enjoyed clear waters for a couple of hrs.

Beautiful and easy to navigate around. We stayed at one of the hotels on the beach and it was so nice to stroll the beach at night, sit for dinner or a drink. The beach is packed with subbeds and chairs. There is no room for kids to play in the sand or do anything else. For adults its really nice. Many restaurants all excellent. Dress up as its pretty high end especially in the evening dresses and nice evening wear. Sunbeds are 80 euros for 2 people whether you stay an hour or a whole day and mandatory. Nowhere else to lay sit or stand. If traveling mid June through summer reservations required.

Very nice beach - clean with lovely clear water. As it is in a bay it seems quite a safe place to bathe and swim and if just want to sit and watch then there always the boats and yachts to marvel and gawp at!
The only reason why my star rating is three rather than four or five is because the beach is, in my opinion, over run with sun beds with little space left for those who prefer to lie on a towel on the beach. Also, the sun beds are all provided by the bars and restaurants that back the beach and there is an expectation for the users of the sun beds to purchase their drinks from the bar/restaurant at a none inexpensive price! Others have also noted how expensive it is to hire the sun beds - so be aware!

We stayed in Ornos in May 2022. I searched the internet but couldn’t find any reviews that gave a realistic view of current sun bed prices. The cheapest beds to be found are Porto Ornos, they were €30 for 2 beds and a parasol in May but this will increase to 40, 50 and €60 in peak season. Great beach bar and they were happy with you having your own food and drink. Beds in other beach bars ranged from €40, €60, €70 and €100, it’s worth bearing in mind these were May prices so you could assume they will also increase as the season progresses and most will only allow you to purchase food and drinks from their bar. There are areas of the beach where you can sunbath with your towel but it’s limited. The bus service to Ornos is fantastic and a taxi from Mykonos town will set you back 15€. The beach bars are amazing all offering something slightly different, local cuisine, Italian, seafood and sushi.

Good beach. Met all expectations. Full of lounge sets, soft music, no noises, we enjoyed it, couple 60+.
Ate in great Greek restaurant just behind us. I recommend both.
When we left for lunch, though, despite that I left my ticket on the lounge table, our lounges were was immediately re-sold to others, although I paid 40 euros for the whole day.

Our cruise ship doesn't arrive until 1:30PM Can we reserve sunbeds for a 2-2:30 arrival? Will we find a seat then if we don't reserve in advance
Written 1 May 2023
Hi there,
You have enough time for the transfer from Mykonos port to Ornos Beach (approx. 10-15 minutes by car). If many ferries and cruise ships dock at the same time, traffic jams may occur on the road, so keep this in mind. Booking a taxi or transfer in advance at the port is recommended (many people wanting a transfer at the same time).
There are several beach bars that have sufficient seating options (loungers, upholstered sofas with cushions, tables and chairs) and rent sunbeds on the beach.
If you visit Ornos Beach in the low season or the shoulder months (April, May, September, October) there are many places available and you don't necessarily need to book (maybe only when you visit in a large group). Booking in advance is recommended during high season (particularly July, August).
Have a great holiday.

Written 17 May 2019
It depends if you choose the the last restaurant / bar at the right, called “aperando galazio”,the set at the last row costs 20 euros.

Do you have to pre-reserve the sunbeds with umbrellas and/or front row seating? If so, what restaurants can you rent them from?
Any advice would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks!

We didn’t reserve and there were plenty available but it was a quiet time of year. In high season it may be a different situation. You may want to call them to check.

I read taxis are often not the best option because there are long lines as Mykonos only has about 30 taxis.. our cruise will be in port from 8-3. I really would love to visit a close family beach for a least 3 hours and have time to
Walk around Mykonos Town and mane grab a snack or a drink by little venice. What would be the best option for me to accomplish that?
Written 6 August 2018
The buses are very good, they leave Mykonos town every half hour and stop right at Ornos beach. The schedules are available online so you can plan your trip. The fare is €1.80.
Once you get to Ornos beach you can hire sun loungers which cost €10 per day.

Hi
I’ll be arriving by cruise next June
I’d like t know how can I go from the cruise port to Ornos Beach?
Your advice will be greatly appreciated.
Written 6 August 2018
Hi
yea it’s relatively easy just a few bus fares , from were the cruise will dock they will tell you how to get to the town of Mykonos ( will be either with a bus from the new port to the old or a sea bus that will get you to the town straight away ) there you just need to find the FABRIKA meaning the place where the busses for beaches are , from there you just need to ask which bus to take for Ornos they usually have busses every 30m
Also there is an app called Aegean taxi that’s something like Uber for the island that’s also a good idea if you with more than one person and it saves time if you there for only a day
Hope that helps
Enjoy
