We visited the cathedral late in the afternoon, when someone was cleaning and we were unable to visit the clerestory. But we were able to see the enormous, permanent Nativity scene in a side aisle - interesting in that the bambino has been stolen several times and the current incumbent is therefore only a few years old.

A must for any visitor. The centre of life in Altamura. Tryn the tour of the bell tower for spectacular views over the city.

Such a lovely church in the centre of a beautiful old town. Very light and airy. Exceeded expectations. We found parking easy and a wonderful gateway into the old town. Many lovely clothes shops as well. Unfortunately we did not have time for shopping even though all the sales were on. Just walking round the shady lanes was a delight.

A very characteristic building of the time in Altamura; very beautiful and central located at the heart of the town. It was very impressive to see from outside and very beautiful inside|!

Set in the centre of the beautiful historic centre and we'll looked after. Unfortunately work is going on in some parts of the cathedral but well worth a visit.

This Cathedral, the only one built by Federico II, is unique because it has different elements from different ages that made this a national monument in the XIX century. I you visit the building make sure you go upstairs to check the "matronei" and the bell tower too. You have to pay a very simbolic entry ticket and have a... More

This cathedral is located in Altamura's centre and I really recommend you to have a walk in the main street which passes just above the cathedral. There are several nice shops and awesome locals to have an "Aperitivo"!

A beautiful cathedral but not worth walking for her in the city as we did. If you already are in Altamura, it's worth visiting.
