The place is just incredibly beautiful, if you arrived here on my review you already know what is all about so I won't talk about the carsic crater, but I rather spend some words on how to reach it! Unfortunately roads conditions are quite bad and for what I know there is not yet a guided tour of the area, what I surely know is that there is neither maintenance nor cleaning routine works, so benches and tables are dismissed and there is quite a lot of waste in the fields surrounded the area. Forget all togheter, about toilettes, bar, restaurants, car park, you need to bring water with you. Nature did a great job but local politicians needs to do their homeworks. If you manage how to reache it and you're not too fussy about the rest, this attraction is definetevely one of the best site around.

I live only some 50 kilometres from the Moravian Karst so I was excited to learn as much as possible about the Karst in Apulia. That is why I enjoyed walking round the Pulo di Altamura, the very large doline with dimensions: the perimeter is around 1,800 meters with the depth around 70–75 meters. Both this Pulo and the abyss called Stepmother in the Moravian Karst (138meters deep) used to be vast limestone caves and their ceiling crashed and fell down. Both places are well known for their archeological work.

Il Pulo was created by the collapse of the limestone ground. Gives context to change occuring over thousands of years.

We went to the place by car and then had a nice walk around the area. At this time it was very quiet and we had the place mostly to ourselves. The nature was very nice and it also has a place for a picnic

Easy enough to reach, it also has a nice picnic area. I think to appreciate it you have to calculate more than half a day, in order to walk the paths leading to the cavities, and do it on a cool day, because the area is in full sun: we were there on a very hot day and we did not feel like walking some path, so we just did a scenic perimeter tour.
