Absolutely fantastic, highly recommended! A real insight into how the tea in your mug is produced. Very few people get to see beyond the images on TV as to how tea plantations work, so this is a wonderful opportunity to see the production in action, using a blend of ancient and high-tech methods.
Also, Sabah Tea is supremely delicious... I think I have been converted from Twinings :o

For first visit it was a fair experience, the environment that can’t find anywhere but here. but definitely need major improvement. The place look old. Some facility really needs improvement. Service staff at restaurant should be more friendly. This place full of crowds. But lake of wow factor. The receptionist at tree house should know about product knowledge and provide good info for visitors rather than ask the visitors to find info at our own.

The Sabah Tea Garden was amazing. They had such a lovely view of the mountain and we didn't manage to go for the tea tour as it was not in the right season, the local staff told us. We sat down at the tea restaurant and had some Sabah Tea, Tenom Coffee and scones. The tea and scones were very tasty, although a bit expensive. After the tea and scones, visitors can visit the gift shop to purchase Sabah tea, coffee and various tea flavours to bring home. A very good experience indeed for a lazy morning or afternoon.

My family arrived at the tea garden in the afternoon only to realise that the guided plantation and factory tour is only available in the morning. Hence we spent 2 he exploring the place ourselves. However the Sabah tea sold here is cheaper than in KK.

The tea plantation is not located near the more famous tourist spots such as Kundasang. There are a few signboards along the way but some boards around key locations would have been helpful. I recommend using a GPS app to help you get there. The road off the main road leading to the plantation itself is just a gravel road and can be quite a challenge to a sedan. Going to the main building, you will meet a guide who will explain the activities available. If you don't go on the tour, there really isn't much to see or do.
I made the mistake of going there on a Sunday which meant the factory was not operational. So despite going on the tour, the experience was much lessened as the actual processes were not running. The guide was sufficiently knowledgeable and spoke better than average English though some words were not pronounced clearly. It was definitely educational and informative and I left the place knowing a lot more about teas and it's various qualities. The weather was not particularly cool though this could be due to the fact that I had spent the previous night at the foot of Mt Kinabalu where the morning temperature was 18 degrees Celsius!
There is a small cafe where you can sample the various teas and of course a shop where you can buy the wares. Pricing is average so don't expect a bargain but rather go for the experience. The tea is easily available in supermarkets anywhere in Sabah so choose carefully. The main emphasis is that it's organic but it doesn't apply to all their products.
After the tour, there is a small garden which I recommend exploring for awhile to enjoy the scenery. There is also a small section which talks about the Sandakan-Ranau death march.
The toilets could be improved in terms of cleanliness and facilities but is useable. Overall more of an informative and educational activity rather than one of enjoyment.

Sabah Tea Gardens makes an interesting stop should you decide to visit Kinabalu National Park. If you are journeying from KK it's a good 4.5 hr drive but a very beautiful one. Head towards Sandakan and you will come across the entrance to the tea plantation. The factory, shop, restaurant is at the top of a hill with commanding views over the plantation and Mount Kinabalu. Very peaceful. You can walk around the gardens/ tea plants which is an easy walk. The factory visit will take you through all the processes from cutting the leaves, threshing them to the final product. Inside the testing room you will see an interesting filtration/ purification test on some well known brands of tea and their quality compared to the local product. The restaurant is very reasonably priced with a fairly comprehensive menu. If you visit in the morning then stop off at Poring Hot Springs which is not far and on your way back to KK. Don't forget your swimming gear and a towel.

the view is breath-taking, and i love it, they have a nice place for you to relax at the top of the garden, and you can see the mountains and the whole view of the sabah tea garden.. This place is a heaven for photographers.. its reserve, and not crowded.
it is advisable to go there on morning or late evening, as its getting hotter due to the sunny day.. unless u love the sun-bathing. You can ware casually as there is no need for hiking or any physical activity. There is a restaurant at the top of the garden, the ice pandan milk tea is delicious ... =) you should try it, you can see the whole sabah tea garden at this restaurant. This place also provide the factory tour, garden tour and many more, but i did not have the time to experience it.
you can have a short visit at this place, as this place wasnt big. i takes 1-2 hours at this garden.

Its about 30 min from Ranau town. Similar to cameron but the weather is a bit hot as its on lower ground unlike cameron. You can go to Hotspring place after that .

Went there earlier this month with a friend. Its about 1 hour ride from Desa Dairy farm, i think. Such a nice place for photography. We got to take a photo with the Yellow frame focusing on the Mt Kota Kinabalu! Tried the tea and seafood tomyam too, its nice and sold at a reasonable prices! Theyre selling quite a number of tea varieties, so if youre a tea-lover, you might wanna check this place out!
Cheers!

Aromatic local tea from Sabah. A popular brand for its rich & aromatic tea taste - SABAH Tea!
- A nice weekend outing place for family to have a tea-break at tea farm.
- About 1 km bumpy road from the main road to reach at the tea garden restaurant.
- no admission fee.
- very big area of the tea farm, lots of tea trees that make a nice photo in the tea bushes.
- restaurant menu filled with “tea” flavour dishes & desserts.
- there are “garden houses & longhouse” available for short stay.
