We went to this church on Saturday, January 20 2018 before the ati atihan parade. It is a nice church, the entence from the side, near the candels was very crowded, but it was nice seeing the blessing ceremony with the statue of el ninio.

Sure, it's a landmark building in Kalibo, but apart from the statues at the entrance and the Maria shrine with all the lights, just outside, it's actually nothing special here. The interior of the place is rather spartan, especially for Catholic standards, and after a...More

I was in Panay Island May 25-30, 2017. That wasn't my first trip to Panay or Kalibo, Aklan. I've attended the Ati-Atihan Festival from 1975 through 1983. The Cathedral holds a special place in my heart. And what a great and beautiful transition from 1983...More

We attend Sunday mass here once in a while. Beautiful altar. Its usually full and the heat can be unbearable during summer. Wall fans not enough. Best to attend evening masses.

I love the 6:00pm sunday mass at Kalibo Cathedral, very solemn and organized especially the entrance and offering collection, compare with some other church mass that I had attended.

Whahh...the church just opens when it has mass and closes immediately after. The evening mass is 5.15-6.00pm. Just went to the adoration to offer thanksgiving.

As odd as it can be, this Cathedral is closed to the public on Sunday afternoons and re opens only for the mass at 4pm. Was excited to get a glimpse of the Church, but we were on a tight schedule (catching a plane). We...More

The Cathedral of St John the Baptist is the seat of the Diocese of Kalibo. It is a huge church built in the 19th century. Unlike in other provinces where churches were built just on the side streets, without even a compound to speak of,...More
