The church and old town of Altea requires a climb but is well worth the effort. The church with its blue tile is set in a courtyard surrounded by views of the town below. Many restuarants and nice shops are nearby along the winding streets. This Plaza and church make Altea special and the most beautiful town in Costa Blanca.

The church is beautiful inside, all white and gold, with statues, and a small museum (1 euro entrance) where you can see large gold candlesticks used at festival times, and capes worn by the priests. There is a cobbled square outside, with a cafe, but we found a very pretty one down a narrow side-street.

Lovely building, worth a visit , and a nice walk around the narrow streets to get there., very busy at night so go in the morning or during the day. It is quite a steep walk to up to the top of the town, so walk up and take a taxi home, or if you have difficulty walking take a... More

The climb to the top is steep in places however is manageable if you are fit. The views of the church and coastline are superb. It is well worth the walk. Lovely white houses with terracotta roof tops and cobbled streets. Stunning.

This church is absolutely worth a visit and it is so wonderful to sit outside in the sunshine and enjoy a drink,. The views from the top next to the church are unreal.

We caught a taxi up to Plaza de la Iglesias from the Tram station for €6 as my husband is unable to climb the steps. It's a different world, beautiful and so peaceful. We were able to walk around the church at our own pace. The statues are so impressive.

We appreciated the time out to visit the church and take a look around and enjoy the peace and quiet. Not to be passed by.

We had always driven through Altea and not quite got to the old town...what a great surprise, absolutely charming. Lots of places to park and charming small streets. The Plaza is charming with lots of choice for bars and restaurants. The views over the coast are well worth a visit. It was busy in the summer but that adds to... More

You have to climb up very steep narrow streets to get here , but it is worth the effort. It is located in a square ; it is very picturesque. When we visited there wasn't a Mass , so we were able to look around inside. Very impressive.

The church is in the middle of the Old town of Altea. The strees leading to it (from every part actually as it is located in a square) are picturesque and pleasant, full of small shops worth looking into. The church is impressive and masses are held until late at night (8 p.m.) Deffinetly worth attending. Unfortunately no air conditioning... More
