Amazing part of the city, spoil a bit by the recent earthquake which means most of the historic parts are blocked off to visitors for safety reasons which is a shame, appears city hasn't made much effort to make safe for visitors to visit.

The most famous person associated with the island of Kos is no doubt the 'father of medicine', Hippokrates, who lived around 460-370 BC. His name is especially associated locally today with the 'Tree of Hippocrates', an oriental plane tree in the Platia Platanou ('platanos' being...More

This site is well signposted from all areas in the centre of Kos Town. One lovely attraction in a walk of many. You can wander around on your own steam. Or follow the guided walk routes.

Have heard a lot about this famous tree. Visited it when we were on holiday this year. We visited first on our own, the when we went on a trip. We found out a lot more on this trip.

Well worth a visit even with the ancient ruins closed to the public. The tree itself is held up with scaffolding, for us it was something that we wanted to see whilst on Kos.

The area where the tree is was interesting and the tree is old and historic. But for me the many cats wandering around the area made me uncomfortable. The building nearby had been ruined in last years earthquake which made me realise how lucky it...More

As part of a tour we were taken to see this legendary tree. Can only say it was a little underwhelming! Not sure what we were expecting.... Hippocratic Oath etc etc... but this rather sprawling tree was unsympathetically supported, had seemed to have grown totally...More

Huge, old tree in the middle of Kos town. Interesting. This tree looks a little bit sad. This is worth to visit.
