Pony ride is very difficult
We came back from half way
We found it risky with kids

Stones on the way to pony ride are huge
Somewhere as huge as horse's feet

Do this only if u are adventures

Don't even think of carring a kid with yourself on horse

Tip trick
Take 4points ride package which includes some valley from that route it is slightly better and safe road

First, the end point called "Mini-Switzerland" is really scenic. Lovely large green meadows and a grand backdrop of pine trees and mountains. This has an entry ticket too (Rs 60). There are a couple of food stalls and toilet facilities as well.

This is typically reached by a horse ride. Important thing to note is that all other "points" mentioned in the board at the horse-hire area are all on the way to this. Pay only 1500 per person and nothing more. Ask for the point called Mini-Switzerland where you have to pay Rs. 60 as entrance fees.

Like mentioned in other reviews, the horse owners can really squeeze a lot more from you if you are not aware of the above.

If it is not raining and slushy, one can reach this place by foot as well if you are willing. The pony ride took us about 45 mins one-way.

Visited the beautiful kashmir ... this place is absolutely heaven on earth ... started my jrny on 1st day and stayed opposite dal lake in hotel new park would rate it only 3 stars ... local sellers over here literally stick to u like a chewing gum ...the moment u step out of the hotel n they realise u r tourists they spam u ...dal lake no more that pretty and locals throw all sort of garbage in the lake .. they quote u 3 times more .. trust me bargain with them ... they reduce almost 3/4th the price quoted..dnt expect a pleasant quiet shikara ride .. they will haunt your shikaras as well.. dnt buy any sort of saffron from there they only sell fake products. Local shops best buy for jackets and purses dirt cheap after heavy bargaining.next we went on to sonmarg ... best place if you want to see snow is march and april rest seasons dnt expect much ..the journey of horses start .. again they will start statements like hum pe vishwaas karo ..aap hamere mehmaan ho .. n try to loot you ... just walk off n they will literally come down to 800-1000. Bucks per person horse ride .. they will show some points named after movie .same is with pahalgam .. to reach chandanwari you will have to take taxi again they will bargain n same story of showing points dnt fall in the trap...but on the way to pahalgam do buy cricket bats almost like 400 bucks ,saffron and dryfruits from evergreen kesar orchid shop they give you genuine product with certificate...next is gulmarg .. walk up to take the gandola ride n enjy the beauty
I loved the place ... but not the sellers and the horse riders they literally want to loot the tourists who come and make all efforts to throw garbage and dirty this heaven on earth

Kashmir valley in pahalgam kashmir
Points in this tour is totaly fake only one point baisar velly is important. Please do not pay more then 1500 for this pony(horse) ride. We don't know actual prize and our driver played game with us. He took us at a point where very high range prize are written on board first he told 4500 per parson for all point at last after bargaining he agree with 3000 per person
In between ride I asked many person they reply mostly thay paid 1500 per person for same.
Please bargain with horse owners other wise you will also cheated.

The board at parking place will show few 6~7 points and some rates. But I think these rates are to start a negotiation.

I asked that I only want to see 1 point that is "kashmir valley". Eventually you will see 3 points. The whole story of points in Kashmir is just an trap to ask more money. So, do not get into that. Research a little and pin pointed your negociations.

We hired 2 ponys in ₹3000.(you may improve it, this was 50% discount).

A gum boot on rent is a good idea to save your shoes and pants from mud & dirt. You can get the same in 50~100.

The fun starts after 15 minutes, the route is very sceinic, but this is the time your focus is on adjusting with pony. (The Horse). The trick is very simple.
1. Keep your load on both side equal on saddle. In starting you put your load on both side hooves and just lift your bums a little from saddle. After 5~6 times you will learn this.

2. Adjust your centre of gravity by leaning forward uphill & leaning backward down hill.

3. The pony's are so well trained that they go on Auto drive mode. With a very little manouvering.

4. Pony also have a sense of saving him self, hence they find the safe route. The sooner you get this confidence, you can enjoy the views for what you are going.

So, be friend with pony asap.

This valley offers view of region which provides entry to pahalgam. Mountain ranges open slightly to provide view of plains. Nice view but compare to baisaran and deno valley, this spot can be treat as resting place during your pony ride. you can eat small snacks here.

Words fail to describe the beauty of the Kashmir valley !The entire pony ride from Pahalgam to the valley is extremely arduous but the local Ksmiri boys who were our guides were so good and informative that the trip was interesting. They knew the exact locations from where the views were superb. The waterfalls , views of the Pir Panjal ranges ,Lidder river ,Baisaran valley ,Dabyan valley all worth the ride up.What still stays with us is the view of the entire valley from one view point .It was absolutely standing on a edge and looking down !!! I really want to do this again and again.

You need to take a Pony to reach this place from the local Pony stand. We had our own until Pahlgam Pony stand from where the local guys ferry you. Approx 14 kms from Pony stand and once you have reached the location you can walk/trek around (not more than 1 - 2 kms) or also take a pony ride. Definitely worth a visit.Just beware of the pony wallahs which are situated before the Poney stand if your here ask him to proceed for Pony stand from where you can book a Pony for Kashmir Valley combined together
