At the end of October we were here. We saw more than 100 elephants (I didn't count them all) and a lot of birds a.o. peacocks. The park is beautifully located on the side of a lake and about 20 min ride from Habarana.

Loved our safari tour of this National Park. Really beautiful we must of seen at least 80 elephants there weren't many jeeps either so felt less intrusive for the elephants . One of my favourite days of my life so far seeing the them in there natural habitat an amazing experience.

We visited in April. Very hot time of the year and we kept driving in an open jeep through endless grasslands in the hot afternoon. I feel they should shift the safari times to the evenings when it gets cooler and the animals start to come out. The tourists were the only fools gallivanting about in the hot stillness with... This was our first Elephant Safari and it won't be our last. We were blown away by the size of the two herds going down to the waters edge and feeding of the grasslands. One never realised how clever the elephants are at kicking the grass and with the trunk they twirl it around until they have enough to pick... More

This large National Park is just amazing, wild Elephants galore we must have seen 40 plus Elephants including tuskers, babies and infants. The safari starts of with what seemed rather mundane monkeys, then on to the large herds of water buffalo, spotted deer, wild boar, hundreds of peacocks which had glorious full tails and a few wild jekles until finally... Had great guide who told us about elephants and pointed out lots of birds too that we saw as well as deer buffalo monitors jackals. Thought we wouldnt see many elephants on going as we had caught distant sight of 4... More

Our jeep driver was fantastic and at times we felt like the only people in the park looking at the elephants not to mention birds, monkeys and a deer. Definitely an experience not to be missed in this beautiful location.

Location in North Central Province of Sri Lanka, Minneriya National Park is popular to witness elephants in their natural habitat. The best time to visit the park is before or around 02:00 PM in dry season, rainy days aren’t good for this idea. The idea of going early is always better, so you can spend some time there. Remember to... More

Spent 2-3 hours on a jeep at this national park in Horton plains. Saw a ton of wild elephants (more than 100) grazing and bathing in the watering hole. Driver took his time to drive us up close to the elephants. Jeep is completely open roof and you can stand up, sit on the edge and get a great view... More
