Elephants galore and up close. We decided we didn't want to go to the commercial elephant orphanages as we didn't want to see elephants in chains. We were so pleased we came here.

We saw about 5 herds of elephants, about 40 in all. It seems the numbers can cross 100 at times. The best was see the little ones, especially in the water and getting a mud bath.

Hello, Looking to go on a safari at Minneriya National Park on August 23rd. A couple of questions: 1. I have read reviews that the park is very crowded with jeeps, which I would like to avoid. What is the best time to go to the park with the least amount of people? 2. Can anyone reccommend a good private jeep tour? 3. About how many hours is reasonable to spend in the park?
