The Garden of Eden is the former park of the Cordeliers monastery and the Notre Dame convent. It is a magical, authentic and historic place, full of basin, ponds and trees of various species : an island of coolness and greenery in the heart of the city.

The Garden has managed to keep the charm of former days. Covering a one hectare area, it is surrounded by old ramparts and of its tower rebirth, narrow footpaths and a stream having its source at the top of the hill. One can still find remains of old dwellings and small bridges. Steps will lead you to the panoramic viewpoint through shaded areas. A quiet and soothing atmosphere radiates from this preserved haven of peace.

The Garden of Eden offers a wonderful view over the Rhone and the twin towns of Tournon and Tain l’Hermitage; on the river banks facing the garden, you will admire the famous vineyards, remarkable for their terrace cultivation.

Just minutes off the main street, you step back in time tracking the history of the area through this intriguing garden. Despite missing the spring and summer flowers, the garden is attractive in autumn-although requires rugging up as many of the paths are in the shade. Still under development but the reclamation of this garden in this extremely challenging site... More

Several trails were closed off, so I have to give 4 stars (would give 4.5 if I could). Very relaxing, very nice views, wish we had more time to just sit. Easy potential for 5 stars when the garden is completed!

The view itself is worth the price of admission, but the garden's terraced nature working up the hill is neat. A great first stop on our vacation.

What a beautiful gem of a garden. Full of character and charm, new view's and water features around each corner. Ok it's not perfect but somehow that just adds to it's appeal. A quiet oasis of calm Don't miss this unique garden.

We heard about the garden from TripAdvisor. It is unfortunate that beautiful places like this one is not promoted enough since the experience of strolling across a beautiful terraced garden that has obviously has been taken care in detail by the owner. He was very welcoming and eager to explain to us the history of its construction and the amount... More

We enjoyed very much the experience. This is the most interesting decorated garden I have ever seen. Even though we missed to see the flowers blossomed, we really appreciated the amount of work put into it. It is a place that brings peace and the many pools full of coulored fish gave us the impression of an oasis worth being... More

As others have said, it's still work in progress but just maintaining what has been achieved so far must take hours. The pathways and steps are steep and I would imagine on busy days it could become a bit crowded. We were on a river cruise but, luckily, we had not gone with the rest of the touring partyand found... We toured this garden in June 2016, our guide Sandrine along with Eric the owner told us of how this garden originated and all the hard work and love Eric and his wife have put into restoring it. The view from the top terrace is also something not to miss.

We visited the Garden on 6th of April 2016 with Avalon Criuse company. Eric the owner was amazing and showed us around with his cat who followed us up through the Garden. Sandrine our guide translated Eric's story of how he recreated the Garden, she was lovely. So much work to uncover this beautiful garden, plants , fish sculptures and... More
