Located next to the Ruins of São Paulo, after a short walk, visiting this fortress is worth it. It is an old fort built by the Portuguese and now transformed into a historic building. The view over the city is unique and the walk along its walls is very pleasant

Part of our day tour. Driver waited while we explored without a time limit. It is an interesting structure with some great views of the city. The inside Museum requires and extra entry fee while entry into fortress is free. Clean bathrooms.
Plenty of signs and pamphlets to give you the details you might be looking for.

We were taken here by mistake and it was a climb up as we were looking for a particular restaurant but it was all worth it at the end. The walk up was nice with easy passage way and excellent view of the city up on top. There is the Macau Museum and some cute animal figures on the grass. Quite relaxing.

I went up here and was very impressed by the old fort. It is really old and nice. The views of the city are good and especially during sunset visit. A must in Macau!

Monte Fort offers one of the better view points in town although most visitors were more interested in posing for photos with the old cannons. Up on the fort is the excellent Macau Museum which was surprisingly nearly empty. The quality of the exhibits were quite good with plenty of English explanations covering everything from history, culture, and current political situation.

This museum is located inside a historic building built during the Portuguese colony in Macau, it has different rooms and floors where you can discover a little the history of this city with a Latin past.
The best part is the roof of the fort where you will find incredible views of the city and the best place to relax or take a good souvenir photograph.

We only had one day in Macau and we could have easily spent it at our hotel (The Venetian), but I wanted to see the historical center of Macau so we boarded a casino shuttle to the Sands and then took a cab to the Ruins of St. Paul’s. Our cabbie was great and he recommended going to the Fort as well. I’m really glad he did.

The view from the top is great and you won’t have to exert much energy because there are escalators that do much of the climb. I would also recommend that you visits the Macau Museum in the fort. It is outstanding and ridiculously cheap (like $.80 USD)!

After visiting the museum I decided to wander around this part of the fort. While offering an important site in the history of Macau it also provides great views of the city and across the river to China. This is a great photo opportunity site.

Great views on Macau from this prime location. A visit to the Macau Museum at the fortress also makes for a nice introduction to Macau’s past, with a great balance between Chinese and Portuguese heritage.

It’s a bit of a hike up to the fort, but once there the view is great and there is a lovely museum. The museum is well worth a visit. Once done there, it is an easy walk to St. Paul’s Ruins.
