The house, built before 1869, has a rich cultural tradition having served as the residence of famous Chinese poet Zheng Guanying. The traditional style abode is made up of several courtyard houses displaying a mix of traditional Chinese and Western detailing. The stairs and the roof paneling and the timber latticed windows display artistry of woodwork which have stood the... More

The sights of Macau are somewhat limited and this is worth a visit. As well as the three interconnected houses in their compound there is a small museum.

It's an interesting old house that gives a lot of opportunities for black and white photos. Not really big but photographers will like this place.

Mandarin's House is not a traditional tourist place. It was the home of a famous rich man of Macau. However, the House was rented out to many people after the death of the rich man. Macau government took back the House and restore the House into its original conditions. It is worthy to spend more than an hour to visit.

Definitely include this on your walking tour of Macau. Significant restoration work has been done to give you a look at how an estate like this appeared 150 years ago. Worth a visit.

This is a large compound (4,000 sqm) build in 1869 by a prominent mandarin family which occupied it without interruption for almost a century. Beyond the obvious interest of the group of building (a UNESCO World Heritage site), what impressed me most was the quality of the renovation. Old houses have been renovated in many places (I’ve seen a number... More
