Great effort by a passionate young man extremely cute active jappy little turtles in well cleaned growing tanks -gladly donated to help the turtles and ensure we can continue to encounter them in the wild

Great work being done to help save the turtles. All relies on donations - a must visit if you’re in the area! Thank you for all that you do for the turtles.

This is a local setup of people trying to do the right thing to help the conservation of turtles, not professionally funded, just locals helping the little turtles.

I had the privilege $25 to take a turtle and put it in the Ocean, which I hope has a long and happy life.

The guy running it was clearly very dedicated to his turtles basic, but very clean tanks.

I also heard another tourists say 10 years ago when he first came to Gilly M they were actually no turtles I know you see them everywhere something is working!!!!!! 🐢😍

I'm not an expert, but I don't think this place is good for the turtles. It doesn't look like a professionally run sanctuary.

Small concrete tanks with baby turtles hatched from eggs gathered on the beach. The eggs are taken from the beach, hatched then the baby turtles are kept and fed in these open tanks for 12 months to give them more chance of survival when they enter the ocean. Run purely on donations by local volunteers. Interesting point is baby turtles must walk down the beach and enter the water unaided this is when their built in GPS sets itself. Never pick up baby turtles heading to the ocean and place them in the water.

A small shelter on the beach ( turn left coming off the jetty) numerous pools with many baby turtles. They are hatched then kept till 12 months old giving them a better survival rate. This sanctuary only runs on public donations so help them out.

Not a tourist attraction in itself as such but well worth the visit. You can learn all about the turtles and you could tell that the man running the place was passionate about helping the turtles. Allow yourself a little time and make sure you leave a generous donation as the sanctuary is not funded and relies on your support to continue its work.
