I found the stories told and displays shown here very interesting and informative - in fact, even more so than the National Museum in Lusaka. Just a bit puzzled about the reasons for showing an exhibition on Jewish holocaust victims in the art gallery section - would have prefered seeing some works by local talents instead.

Normally I try to avoid touristy gift shops, but here they actually had some cool stuff I hadn’t seen elsewhere which led to some purchases.

At the back of the premises there’s a nice shaded area with a couple of food stalls serving local fare and cool drinks.

It's not a very fancy museum but interesting enough to learn history about Tonga and Southern Province. It will only require half an hour to an hour to do this or you can enjoy some local food outside and sit under the trees, watch people and some birds pass by.

We visited this museum during our Holiday in Zambia on our way from Livingstone to Lusaka, there is plenty of " how the Tonga people lived" history and their food, there is a good resting park where you could have a picnic, .
The staff are very friendly

Interesting history of the local people, with lots of photo and cultural objects. We picnicked on the benches which was good. There's a really relaxing atmosphere too and we didn't see any other visitors the whole time we were there.

On our way to Livingstone we always have a break here at Choma Museum. We love this place and relax in the shade and get food. They serve local food and fast food. Whenever you pass Choma it's a must to stop here.

A place full of Zambian and African history. Visit this place and see for your self the historical artifacts and monuments left behind during the colonial rule in the Northern Rhodesia. This is place has full history ranging from tools used to make the mighty Kariba Dam in Zambia.

The museum has a number of interesting galleries and paintings depicting mainly the history of the area and people but also of some political history of Zambia.

If you have at least 30-60 minutes to spare, then it is highly recommended to provide cultural insight.

Photos are not permitted in the galleries and there are local artefacts and carvings available for sale.
