Built in the traditional Dong style this Drum tower was built in 2010. It is amazing to see such a large structure still built without and Iron nails. Worth a quick visit if you are in Sanjiang but not worth a special trip.
A detour after a local at Yangshuo showed me the photo of this tower and the bridge. There were quite a few this kind of drum tower on my way from Longji to Sanjiang but this drum tower is the biggest I saw so far....More
The Drum Tower is indeed a pretty cool structure and fun to walk up, but they could do so much more with the space re: sharing the local history and culture. A missed opportunity. Still worth the effort.
