Great place to spend a day. Went to a an island and had some mexcal a Mexican tequila and mud packs on our faces, Great boat ride to the end where you dive in the water and wash off the mud and cross over a hill to the ocean on the other side. Highly recommended.

Recently I visited Barra de Coyuca beach near Acapulco and absolutely it’s a gorgeous place if you like uncrowded and relaxing beaches. You can swim or just go for a walk where you can see the Pacific Ocean sea on one side and on the other Coyuca’s Lagoon. Ideally, you should go earlier during the morning and come back to Acapulco at evening because unfortunately there aren’t many hotels. The food is delightful and it’s not expensive at all. Definitely, you should try the most popular dish which is shrimps with a hot sauce that local people named “Camarones al chingadazo”, this is one of my favorite dishes. I absolutely come back soon as it’s a very peaceful and beautiful place.

I saw it in a magazine that it was the top lagoons to water ski, took a motor boat to Isla
Montosa and had some beers and mezcal locally made! Very rustic and easy going, even got a mud face mask

The boat tour of the lagoon was a very relaxing experience. Our boatman took the boat to a lotus pond. His young assistant, a 12 year old kid got down in the pond, took out some mud, and applied it to our legs, arms, face. We washed it all out after coming back to the shore. It was a very natural spa! Loved the fresh coconut water, too.

Laguna de Coyuca is not very known for the foreign tourist but this place should be visited if you are looking for sweet water, good food, birds and quietness. It is a great place to skiwater early in the mornings.
If you do a full tour around the laguna you will be able to get to the side of the Pacific Ocean walking or swiming, depending on the time of year and the current.
Food at the Lagoon is affordable and delicious, you will enjoy it after some water ski in the morning or some swimming in the afternoon.
There is a little island/house in the middle of the Lagoon where some nice mysterious drinks of tequila and mezcal are served. It is a nice stop for friends wanting to avoid the sun for a little bit.

I would recommend this because it is not very touristy and it is peaceful and a place well known by true locals.

to watch the the sunset, but also it so beautiful in the morning because you can take a walk in the beach and you can watch the sun rise and during the winter some time you can see the dolphin swimming and playing, and the food It's o.k.

If you are spending any amount of time in Acapulco it is worth it to schedule a visit to Pie de la Cuesta/Laguna de Coyuca. I booked the day trip with Aca Tours/Excusiones Aca at the Crowne Plaza Hotel where I am staying. Cuesta/Coyuca was going back in time -- to the time before Acapulco was discovered by Hollywood and then tourism at large. We first took a small boat through the lagoon to see an island filled with birds and, I imagine, other wildlife. After a stop to see two capitve crocoiles, we had a meal and a beach afternoon at Pie de la Cuesta. The highlight was a "turtle launch" ... we released baby turtles into the ocean so they would have a safe, secure start into their long journey into the sea. I recommend this for people of all ages and interests.

We went for a boat tour on the lagoon and saw lots of birds especially on Bird Island plus a cat! There were only 6 of us in the boat and we made several photo stops. After thr boat tour we had a coco loco cocktail out of a coconut in the bar, then saw a man climb a coconut tree before relaxing by the beach watching the Pacific crash ashore at a temp of 33 deg C- then back to London at 3 deg C! Memories!

I started from Acapulco, took a bus labeled "Playa" out to the end destination at Pie de la Cuesta. It took one hour approx. to arrive. I was waiting about 5 min until next colectivo bus and vent on towards Barra de Coyuca. 30 min later I was standing at the narrow strip of land between Pacific Ocean and Laguna de Coyuca (where Sylvester Stallone filmed Rambo: First Blood Part II).

It was too cloudy to capture the sunset, unfortunately. However. I decided to walk further on to reach the very end of intersection. The mixture of the two different areas turned out in success. It came naturally and very beautiful to me, with bird flocks, sand, sea waves and the lagoon. Very peaceful atmosphere, I would say.
