There are NO rabbits, not even one… We asked upon arrival where the rabbits were, and the waiter told us “nowhere”… its basically a scam.
So our kids were very disappointed.
In middle of summer this is a very touristic island. And actually not more than a part of the camping which it belongs to. The restaurant is more a snackbar but fine for ice cream and a snack.
Only funny thing was that you can walk through the water to the island from this camping on the mainland.
But my advice; skip it.

Catch a boat from Manerba Porto Torcchio for cheap fares (2.50€ one way). Upon arrival you will be charged a small entrance fee (5€ a day). The island is tiny but super quaint and is predominately visited by locals for tanning and bathing. You will encounter families and couples. There is a small food stall, toilet facilities and plenty of loungers. There are beautiful plants and lovely trees that offer shade during the worst heat of the day. Come here if you want to spend your day swimming and relaxing and best bring your own food and plenty of water.

A magic island, perfect for all the family but meal was not very good.
Our best Italian dinner was at Da Rino at Porto torchio.

If you are in Manerba - I think this is a place you must see. The little island is very beautiful and it is possible to see the wild rabbits here. Very nice place to go with children. There is a taxiboat from the Harbor. We used that and enjoyed the little boattrip as well. We had to pay a little to enter the island- we thought that was ok. The only thing we dident like, was the bar/cafe playing loud discoteque music. That seemed very strange and disturbed the peacefull experience. All in all we can recommend everyone to see the beautiful island

We just attempted to cross - don't do it if your wading in water up to your waist! We realised too late that the best time to cross is when the water is low (not sure when that might be) and you can see the passage across.
The water temperature was ok, but we got lost and ended up on a precipice into the lake! There was no directions at the beach as to where to head, so we had to turn back. The water was up to our shoulders at this point! With three children in tow, we returned to the beach :(

This is our second time to this campsite. Unfortunately in September they will not allow you to reserve in advance as it is not a busy period so we did not get the waterside pitch we wanted. The location of this small campsite is amazing but to make the most of it you really want a waterside pitch where the views are better and it is quieter without cars and cleaners running through. We were woken at 6.30am on our first day by the cleaner sweeping leaves outside our tent and going up and down in his vehicle. The receptionists don't seem to care very much if you are happy or not and the restaurant staff are not particularly friendly either. This is not a cheap campsite given its location so it would be nice if the staff made more of an effort, I am not sure we will be back in a hurry.

Can anyone tell me how to get to the island in May? We tried yesterday and were told the boats don’t run at the weekend. We’re going to try tomorrow but don’t want another wasted journey!
Where do boats go from? How do you get a ticket and what time do they open?
Thanks in advance for any info!

Ciao
