You arrive in Valle de Uco from Mendoza City by driving south on Route 40. You can reach Tupungato or Tunuyan in about 45 minutes, then depending on where you go in the valley, you can be most places in another 20 to 30 minutes. Note, this is in a private car. The tour vans drive slower. The most scenic way to arrive in the valley is turning off the main Route 40 and taking the old road from Urgarteche up to Tupungato, The views of the Andes are dramatic and when you pop over that last hill to see Valle de Uco, it's breathtaking. Favorite wineries to visit, or have lunch, include Bodega Atamisque, Domain Bisquett, Azul, Salentein, Monteviejo, La Celia and O. Fournier. Just want a delicious casual lunch with great views, try Tupungato Divino.

This region is totally different from the other regions and has great new wineries, that make very inventive wines. If one has to choose, should good to Uco first and then visit Maipu and Lujan .

The Uco Valley is the most picturesque of Mendoza's wine regions. From the moment you drive through down into the valley you can't stop looking at the mountain back drop, just stunning. This was our second visit to the Uco and it was just as we remembered.

It's a relatively new wine region in Mendoza, but all the big wineries have estates there. The scenery is amazing and the wineries as well. You won't find traditional wineries, but all new ones. Nearly all of them have great restaurants. If you are planning to go, you'd better have a look and plan to which one you would like to go, and book (for both lunch and/or a guided tour). We were there on a Tuesday and Weds and got to the gate of some of the wineries and were rejected because they were booked out. Simply loved it!

The Mendoza Valley is our new favorite place on Earth!! We were able to completely relax at an adorable boutique hotel while drinking wine and eating the best food we have ever had in our lives! Our experience here was absolutely incredible. The best way to experience the area is to go to the smaller boutique wineries that don't have a lot of distribution in the US. We found that we were discovering incredible new wines that we never would have found by heading to the larger vineyards. The pace is very relaxed. We visited one or two wineries a day, often spending 2 or 3 hours eating lunch and tasting wine.
Our favorite place to eat lunch was Azul located on Ruta 89 between Tupungato and Tununyun. It's a tiny family owned vineyard with bohemian inspired decor. The food was incredible. I will be craving it until we make it back.
El Enemigo was also a favorite stop. Incredible food, incredible wine, incredible atmosphere and the staff was amazing. We actually were able to share wine with the owner of the winery - Alejandro Vigil. He is a rock star in our minds; our favorite wine maker by far.

Valle de Uco is a heavenly place for wine lovers. It is perhaps the wine capital of the region. There are vineyards all over, some of which are very exquisite and worth visiting. The view of the vineyards with the Andes mountain backdrop is surreal, picturesque and awe-inspiring. Valle de Uco is a must-see/must-visit place once in Mendoza. You most certainly would not regret your visit here.

Even though it was a bit of a trek for us to get to Valle de Uco it was worth every effort. The views are unreal! Verdant wineries right up against the soaring Andes Mountains. There were so many great wines!

We visited Bodegas Salentin at 11am. It was an amazing place with a Grand Piano in the Cellar that luckily someone else in our party was permitted to play. The whole place was fantastic and the wine tasting was excellent. We tasted 4 wines here and they were all delicious. We then went onto Andeluna Cellars and had a 'Private Tour' which gave us another view of a smaller Vineyard against the vastness of the more modern Salentein. We had a Wine Tasting, 7 in all, outside so we could gasp at the backdrop of the Andes. The wines there were superb also. We then went on to have a Wine Tasting lunch just across the road at a tiny vineyard 'La Azul' ! The food, wine, scenery and service were all fabulous. Lots of wild Guinea Pigs running around, a Fuchsia Tree buzzing with Hummingbirds right by our table! Excellent value for money and the quality of the food outstanding. Would love to re-visit the area and to more Vineyards if this small snippet is anything to go by.

You have to visit the Fournier winery.
Its one of the most modern in the world, built in the year 2000 and its fantastic.
Ask for Daniel to give you the tour , he is excellent .
The wines are great and the restaurant is fantastic.
Quite a pleasure to visit this unique winery.

We always enjoy going to different wineries in Valle de Uco. There are so many of them it is hard to decide which ones to visit. We like pinot noirs and rose so we visit ones that have the highest rating for those wines.
