I visited Tomar and this village is not to far from there. What a nice and quiet place this is! You have fantastic views from the castle!

To visit the medieval city, from "Ourém" you have to drive into the city of "Ourém" and then follow the signs for "Cidade Medieval", this is going by a narrow but asphalted road with many curves who will take you uphill, once above you have to take a very short turn, and emmidiatly to the richt and so you get to the old town, where you can park your car on the small parking plot. Here you have the Church, an old shop, and the road to the castle and the cemetery, a very beautiful old town, well worth a visit.

Do not make the mistake of trying to drive through this medieval town! The streets are very narrow, it better to walk to the ruins of the castle above. It is very pretty, with very narrow streets and very few tourists.

This medieval town is very similar to the village of St Paul de Venice in France, which is totally packed all year round.
In contrast, there are very few people around in Ourem.
Lovely place to potter around and outstanding views!

Apart from the Castle at the top of the hill, the small village is very nice to walk around, we were on a windy and cloudy day, but it allowed us to enjoy the views from top, also is not so far from Fatima, it had its own ¨judiaria¨, the street where the jews lived, very little is left and they have to do some excavations there as the guide explained. The pousada we visited later offered us some refreshments it was very nice and so quiet, worth the visit if you are on your own, and with a car.

This seems to be a very unspoiled and charming little town.very quiet, peaceful & serene. We enjoyed walking around and up to the castle - not a hard walk and the pousada there is really beautiful and the restaurant is fabulous as well. It wasn't nearly as hard to get to as we thought it might be and was well worth the trip.

We drove around the town prior to going to the Ourem castle and then stopped in town and walked around when we returned from the castle. Perhaps we didn't enjoy it as much as we could have since we were recovering from our harrowing trip up and down the mountain to the Ourem castle.

This town is beautiful. The day we were there there weren't many people around which was lovely. We walked up to the castle and around the small roads. It was so peaceful and calm. The views were great and the sunny was shining. I would recommend a visit to Ourem to see its beauty.

The medieval town of Ourem is a nice place to walk and discover the area. next to the church you can have Ginjinha drink in chocolate small shot, it is a Portuguese liqueur made by infusing sour cherries. as well you can visit the old church located in the same area.
