Totally worth a visit - just do these things: park in main lot (free + optional donation for which we gave 2 euro). Do not pay for the park. Instead walk to the public entrance and pay 1.5 euro to take the steps down to the water. Wear solid water shoes that will allow walking and wading. Crisscross the River to find your own private beach spot. Enjoy the water - it wasn’t cold for us. And you can walk all along the water (crossing often) for quite a ways.

Very disappoiting experience. Mosf of the trail was closed due to last week's bad weather. Ridiculous to charge €6 for like a 15mins walk in the botanical gardens. We weren't even able to get down to the river/ the bottom of the gorge. Total rip off though unsure what the normal price is...🙄

Gole Alcantara are really cool, but DO NOT do the 30€ trekking tour, it does not worth the money! You do the same things you can do by yourself, but just with a fisherman suit (it's just an expensive tourist trap).
Don't even think about the 12€ entry ticket! Public ticket is 1,50 €.

We stopped in here and spent a fun few hours keeping cool in the beautiful clear waters.
Having read a few reviews we knew to park in the main car park then go back out onto the road and walk a few meters uphill to the town entrance... just pop over to the tourist office to buy your entry ticket and save yourself lots of money!
Once down the safe, well-spaved steps we made our way into the river, Yes it was cold but clean and clear and the rock formations look incredible. I would highly recommend beach shoes as the river bed is rocky. We decided to see how far we could venture up-stream and had great fun clambering over the rocks and through the rapids. It's not easy and you need to be reasonably fit and able but you don't need to pay for a professional guide and equipment.

Very cold water. It hurts when you go in, but the place is so beautiful that it worth it. The most interesting part is st the river. You can walk around the park to see different trees and plants, but it is a bit boring. Definetly try the pistachio ice cream. It is the best here in whole Italy. I tried at 5-6 places, but here it was far the best!!!

Giardini Naxos is known to have been first Greek
colony in Sicily.Naxos has lovely beaches ,the open air cafes, bars and restaurants crafts and art shops, an ideal place to by souvenirs or small gifts when it is time to leave the Sicily...
A few kilometers from Giardini Naxos in the valley of Alcantara
are the strange narrow gorges carved out by water over the centuries.
It has created bizarre and amazing sculptures on the lavic basalt walls.
The river waters are very cold due to the fact that they are coming from the melting snows of the volcano.
It takes only about 30 minutes by bus to get there from Recanati
bus stop .
Unique experience,must see.

We visited this park in April with small children. After entering, it seemed that the park is very poorly maintained (the 4 plastic dinosaurs were broken) and almost everything was closed. The kids were looking forward to the playground and the spraypark. Both were closed. The cliff and elevator were nice though, but we were imagining we could spend a few hours here and that was not really the case. Kids very disappointed and the lady at the cash registry just said that she never told us that the spraypark and the playground were open....

Awesome for nature lovers, there is also a guided tour that costs 10 euros (additional cost next to the 10 euros entrance fee) and you get a suit and boots so you can cross the water and see the entire gorge. The beach is peaceful if you're lucky enough to not get there along with the tourist buses, so I suggest a morning visit.
