It was a very nice experience. The location is great, it’s a short walk from the city centre so you can pair it with visiting other sites, for example the Old Fortress. The museum isn’t big but there’s a lot to see, especially if you have an interest in Ancient Greece. I recommend also visiting Mon Repos since in this museum, you can find many artefacts that were excavated there. The entrance was free for us (we’re 20 and 21 years old from Slovakia). The staff was friendly and helpful, the toilets were clean and we bought pretty postcards in the shop.

I visited the Archaeological Museum of Corfu with my family. It has been very impressively reimagined in recent years. The very spacious cool and attractive space to spend an hour or so away from the heat and bustle of Corfu town. We loved the ability to use the lockers. The exhibits were well presented in spacious galleries with clear provenance and clear information boards. The history of the island from the Stone Age is to the Middle Ages was well illustrated with fantastic local finds including coins, statues, weapons and pottery. Therefore, for anyone with an interest in History or archaeology this museum is well recommended. However, i must question why my 9yr old daughter was asked not to drink water in a museum with no obvious exposed or vulnerable exhibits. We also had a feeling of being ‘watched’ whilst walking around the museum, which made us all feel alittle annoyed as we were respectfully engaging with the exhibits. I suggest that you put signs up around the museum stating that water cannot be drunk in the museum instead of just at the entrance if this is to be the case.

This museum was originally built in the early 1960s but modernised since then, and is now a very impressive, spacious, air-conditioned building which houses pieces from prehistoric to Hellenistic times. These include pottery, silver and gold coin hoards statues and pediments from ancient Greek temples, including that of Artemis (580-590 BC). Well worth a visit.

Thoroughly enjoyed our visit. The items are well laid out, well lit in a light and airy modern museum and with English translations.
If you are from the UK you will have to pay an admittance charge - another Brexit bonus.

I was nearly put off visiting this museum because of the reviews saying it was small and there was nothing there. It’s not the biggest museum in the world but there are a lot of good exhibits and it’s nicely laid out.
I had a lovely couple of hours here and really enjoyed it.
A bonus for me- it was gently air conditioned but not too cold. I hate having to leave museums because I’m freezing!

A thoughtfully laid out museum. Attractive pleasant decor. Good quality legends to exhibits. Yes, it's not the British Museum, but there is something about focussed small museums that can work really well.

Well yes. Full July... We really wanted to see it having been in the Mon Repos Palace and having sensed the great set of archaeological remains of Phoenician, Greek and Roman Corfu but what was our surprise that on a day that was not very hot (30- 32°C maximum) the air conditioning did not work and was awaiting repair. We couldn't see anything other than level 0. It was inconceivable that for that reason we weren't allowed to see the entire museum. Very disappointed after having walked there from the center.

A small museum but what it lack I extent, it made up for in quality. The display were brilliantly presented, very well documented and chronologically described. There we associated AV screens to give more detail which made the whole experience most enjoyable and informative. Thoroughly recommended.

Despite the text above this museum is definitely open. Adult entrance 6€. A modern and spacious museum. A modest amount of exhibits but well displayed. It does not give an impression of there being much archeology on the island ( ie many sites of interest) which is also the impression when touring.
