Intriguing cave resurgence and nice wooded picnic area

We stopped here to visit the cave and have a picnic. The resurgance itself is interesting but does not take long to see. There is an explanation of the cave flow phenomenon next to the cave. There is a cafe set in the woods across the road. We chose to take a short walk down into the woods to enjoy... More

Assuming you're on holiday and not in a hurry, it's possible to experience a natural phenomenon very close to the Cathar castle of Montségur. Over the past few years a picnic area and a nice cafe have appeared next to the cave and the Fontaine de Fontestorbes. Water will swell from a trickle to a mighty gush and slowly go... More

This river which appears straight out of a cave in the limestone hillside has, at times, an irregular flow that can go from a roaring mountain river to a trickle and back. this takes place only in certain conditions, mainly in summer. It is free to see and makes a good stop going to or from the village of Montsegur... More

Interesting natural water phenomenon, but unless you're lucky, you need to be prepared for a little wait - 60-90 mins for it to happen and be sure to visit at the correct time of year! Worth the stop - not far from other major attractions so plan a little itinery around it. There is now a cafe at the zip... More

Situated next to a quiet road is this phenomenon. There are information boards showing how it all works (a little bit too complicated for me, I must admit). The rotations take between 60 and 90 minutes, although I think it took less time when I was there (late July). It's also quite near a "big" regional road, so if you're... More

Fontaine de Fontestorbes was a great place to stop near Montségur. There is parking here, you can have a look in the cave. There are picnic facilities, tourist information kiosk and a snack shop.
