This place is basically a memorandum of Chiang-Kai Check's (Jiang Jie Shi) and his family. Something for history buffs I suppose. It attracts a multitude of Chinese tourists, especially on a holiday, so go here on a weekday if possible.
But even if you're not too much into Chinese history, this place is a nice getaway, with dozens of shops where you can buy traditional snacks and have a relaxing time.
If you're traveling from Ningbo, the bus 988 takes you all the way from the railway station to this place (1 stop before Mt Xuedou) for like 5 yuan, but it takes almost 2 hours.

I have been a fan of Chiang Kai-shek for many years and really enjoyed visiting his ancestral home. Evidently this is the home that his family lived in for quite some time in the past. The many buildings in the compound give you an idea of what his young years were like and the relative prominence of his family in the region. I thoroughly enjoyed touring this compound and also the family summer home up on Xuedou Mountain. I recommend both for history buffs.

The most interesting thing about the place is the positive treatment given General Chiang. I expected them to treat him harshly but it was not at all negative. The village was picturesque but you do not need to buy the Chiang ticket to see it.

Look about chiang kaisek or Chinese history in internet before the visit, there is very few information in english.
Visit took 1h30 (3 to 5 different buildings) and cost 120 yan.
The location around is touristic ( chinese tourists) with different bars and shops. You can walk along the river for some kilometers.
Ticket office is not on the building itself, you have to buy it on another place ( difficult to find).
At the end I found it expensive. I would only combine it if you are on the way to the mountains and have some time left. Another way would be if you are with chinese friends, and they explain you why he CK is so famous.

All in all not too much to see unless you like reproduced blured photos of the family members of Chiang Kai Shek.
Many of the buildings were poorly maintained and the museum lacked interesting items, those i did have lacked descriptions either in Chinese or in English.
The room where they claim Chiang was born ( bed included ) was actually rebuilt in 1948 by theman himself so hardly the original

Tried to review this site last September but Trip Advisor could not locate it, happy to see it is now located.
I like museum/houses this one is well set out and full of lots of great items, from pictures of Chiang's childhood through to his association with mao and more, many military artefacts and historical items. Much of it is not in English so it helps if you have a translator as we did (Plus my wife is Chinese so that helped too :) )
Highly recommend it if you are in the area, about an hour or so from Ningbo.
There are food and souvenir stalls just across the river from the house, near where you will probably park. Take the rickshaw ride over the bridge, it is a few yuan and it is the only way some of the locals have of earning any money.
Also watch out for old Chiang himself! Well not actually him but a look alike who sits waiting in his chair and when you walk past jumps up and thrusts out his hand, if you shake hands he grips like heck and asks if you want a picture with him. 10RMB per pic. But worth it, it was a highlight to have a pic with the great man.

In authentic to period of Chiang Kai-shek's birth. Idealized 1930s and 40s recreations by Chiang when he was in power and post-1995 PRC recreations to support the outreach to Taiwan. But -- and see my other review of Xuedou Mountain Resort -- some of that is spectacular and the Miaogaoshan Villa there is worth seeing, especially if your know Chinese and/or something about Chinese modern history and bring along an interpreter.

It is a special place in this small village to visit with an impressive history, many Chinese people come here to pay a visit, the mountain area around the village is fantastic, and Chiang Kai-shek build a temple in the mountains in the years before he escaped to Taiwan.
