About
Situated on the historic 4,000 acre Rose Hall Estate, and sited on 200 acres of lush greenery and rolling countryside, The White Witch Golf Course is carved from the rolling countryside of Jamaica’s historic Rose Hall Plantation and is an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Robert von Hagge and Rick Baril. This 6,758-yard, Par 71 treasure is named for the plantation’s beautiful but wicked 19th century plantation mistress, Annee Palmer. Legend has it that Annee’s ghost still haunts the estate, creating an alluring mystique that has fascinated island natives and visitors for generations. Winner of the "Jamaica's Best Golf Course" award at the 2015 World Golf Awards, also rated as the #1 Golf Course and #1 in Golf Shop Staff service by Conde Nast Traveler. The White Witch is considered one of the finest golf courses in the Caribbean, characterized by mountainous terrain, cool trade winds, colorful foliage and spectacular ocean views from 16 of its 18 holes.

Played the week of February 18-25-25 played around this same time last year love this course. Greens were quite a bit better this year than last year they redid them summer of 24. A few spots here and there still having a little sand where grass still filling in. To me and my friend it is worth playing because of the views and difficulty of the course. Enjoy it more than cinnamon hill, because of that. We had two caddies and so glad we did. Kendra and imara. They drove the carts and happy they did very hilly and I could see someone that dosent know the course well could have some danger spots. I have played there for years and Kendra has been my caddy for those years. Very knowledgeable and helpful. Don’t hesitate if you don’t mind maybe pga greens. Because staff and course worth the high price and the few little upgrades that need done.

Play twice if you want to score well. This is like most courses you will play better a second time. Expensive, but you are on vacation. Course plays fast because you have to play with a caddie. This is very helpful. Greens fees, caddie, tip caddie, adds to alot of expense. The real expensive part is a 25 minute cab ride round trip from a trusted cab or service $100 round trip. Ouch, but we did arrive safely which is worth the piece of mind.

Beautiful views. However it rained the day we were there and the course doesn’t drain well. Our caddies were ok, they were attentive but not informative. The golf shop staff was friendly and we were given a discount because the course has recently under gone some renovations and is coming back.

We played on NOVEMBER 1, which was the first day the course was open to the public. We had fore caddies that were terrific to find our golf balls and read the greens. However, the greens were in terrible condition and the sand traps were in horrible condition. We expected better since this was the first day of play. Other than another single player, we had the entire course to ourselves. The Staff there was very very nice

For this to be a championship course it was by far one of the worst courses I’ve played. I have played many championship courses around the world and this gets a 3 out of 10. The only reason for the 3 was the experience caddie, pro shop customer service and magnificent views.
You couldn’t roll a ball on the greens at all even if rolled with my hand. Greens were muddy yes I said “Muddy Greens!l” The greens were also spotty, patchy and damn look like someone tried to scrap the grass off the greens. I should have taken pictures.
Anyway, played Feb 4, 2024. This course needs a lot of maintenance. I was told afterwards that I should have played Tryall or Cinnamon.
Don’t waste you money on this course even if they offered a discount which was still over $100 US dollars.

White Witch is an stunningly beautiful golf course that is meticulously maintained.
However, we were required to have a caddy, and the one assigned to us was Kendra. She was the worst caddy I've ever had and this is why I am only giving 3 stars. Kendra was more concerned with how we drove the cart and where we parked it than helping us to navigate the course and the greens. I've been playing golf for over 15 years and know when and where you can drive and park a cart on a course. I was frustrated with her "barking" several times and we considered ditching her at the turn. Had it not been for the negative caddy experience, I would be giving this course a 5 star rating.

Every year i play this course. I have tried others in jamacia but come back here. The staff is so welcoming from getting out of the taxi to the pro shop allison and kamara are so friendly and welcoming. They have a great selection of gear from balls to clothes and hats. The gal that orders the clothes does a terrific job with styles and sizes. So take time to look around. Waldo and others drive the drink cart with cold beverages and have many choices. Rental clubs are nice and the have stiif and regular. Hard to beat the views from anywhere on this course. It is challenging, but fun. I continue to see changes for the better every year. Caddies are so worth the money because they help you with yardage and putting. Well worth it! Kendra and imara are my two favorite. Please tip them well as they work very hard. Played there 4 times this year and enjoyed so much!

If you have the chance dont miss out on this scenic treasure. So many holes overlooking the sea. I would hve given 5 stars but a couple of greens were a little rough. Our caddies were friendly and very knowledeable. I had my golf buddy with me and the caddy was eiter spot on with yardage or maybe a couple or 3 yards off.

We just got back from playing White Witch and had a fabulous time, especially due to our caddie/golf concierge, Diane.
My husband is a very good golfer (used to be a teaching pro) and I am more beginner level. We haven’t played in about 6 years due to a variety of circumstances.
We didn’t expect much from ourselves. We are in Jamaica for vacation and figured, let’s give it a try.
Diane was simply outstanding! Her knowledge of the course was fabulous, but we most appreciated her wonderful and warm demeanor, her fantastic smile, and how engaging and helpful she was.
She took such good care of me, helping me every step of the way and got some really good shots out of me and I couldn’t be more thrilled!
We had so much fun with her and if we come back, we would absolutely request her!
Diane - thanks for the laughs and guiding me to “stretch it out” with my driver ;)!

DO NOT PLAY!! White witch golf course is a great layout but the greens are not playable. They are mud! And that is not a joke. Don’t waste your time booking there. Even if they let you play for free it’s not worth it. Go play Cinnamon Hill or Tryall.

I am going to be playing White Witch over the holiday season but concern with report of bad greens. Can someone who just has been there within the past month let me know:
Are the greens just patchy or no grass?
How many would you say are bad?
Are they unplayable?
Thanks

I will be staying at the Hyatt Zilara/Ziva and had seen that golf may be part of the all inclusive package. Can anyone confirm this? Also the online reservation isn’t working. How did most of you schedule tee times?

How much is a cab from Secrets St James to the White Witch course? Heard something crazy like $100 usd??
Written 12 January 2019
My husband golfed at 3 courses. One was free, just had to tip the driver. The other 2 were minimal 10 - 20 dollars. We were at the Hyatt Zilara.

Do you pay tax on the $15 caddie fee? I assume you pay the $15 in the pro shop and then tip directly to the caddie, is that correct?
Written 22 May 2017
Yes tax on fee .... Then u tip cash to caddy usually $25 USD each person ($50 cash for a twosome)
Written 4 June 2017
Caddie rate is $15 per round which may be included in your golf rate depending on where you bought your round. An additional gratuity is also standard, $20/$25 is recommended.

I will be on a cruise next month that offers this course as an excursion. I'm far from a good golfer, which makes the Witch extremely intimidating! The Caddy reviews seem to be either very good, or very poor. Thoughts???

Can anyone suggest a Golf Club in Jamaica with an Tennis club and Gym attached ?
Written 18 November 2015
Hi Kisse
White Witch and Cinnamon Hill Golf courses are the best golf courses in Jamaica. In fact White Witch has just been awarded Best Golf Course in Jamaica 2015 at the World Golf Awards.
These golf courses do not have tennis courts and gyms but your hotel in Montego Bay is very likely to have these amenities.
Golf at these courses is included if you choose to stay at Hyatt Ziva & Zilara OR Iberostar Grand.
