We travelled to the West coast to specifically visit the Pancake Rocks and were not disappointed. We enjoyed the drive along the Buller river before getting to Westport and the drive from Westport to Punakaiki was great. DOC (Dept of Conservation) have done a great...More

We stopped here when it was raining, lucky it stopped. These rock formations are brilliant to see. Lucky there were not a lot of tourists around so we could take our time. Avoid going when you see a tour bus there

Great place to visit, just need to make sure it is high tide for best viewing. Good walking track but a bit of climbing up through rocks so possibly not suitable for small children or elderly folk. Took us about 45 minutes to do the...More

One of New Zealands best and FREE natural attractions. Most of Walkways are safe and wide enough for wheel chairs. We went in the afternoon and had great light for photos.

These natural 'pancake' rocks are a must see! The best experience is viewing when at either high tide of when the sea is really crashing is; however unfortunately most tourists can wait for these events and anyway the seascape/rock formations are imminently viewable at any...More

Saw everything we expected however you must time your visit to the blowholes to make sure you get the best experience. We went early am at high tide. Was cold but worth it.

Did not know what to expect when we were driving up the coast to Pancake Rocks. The views of the ocean are stunning and the walk around the site is very interesting.

What a gem at this far north west part of New Zealand! It was way better, way more amazing, way easier walk.. To my surprise, it was on the coast and well paved, almost seem like inside a park. You parked across the street on...More

Who said anything about seeing kiwi? I went back and read my review and there is no mention of any birds. We did see white fronted terns nesting in the rocks which I did not mention since they were a bit far away.

The best time to visit is an hour either side of high tide as that is when the blowhole is most spectacular. I suggest you do some research on tide times before your visit.

There should be a bus leaving from Greymouth. or go to the information centre in Greymouth and see if there is a tour bus.
