The walk is short (20 mins) and as long as there aren’t coach loads of tourists it is n enjoyable stroll on an easy tarmac path (good for proms & wheelchairs etc). There are plenty of viewing points for some great photo opportunities. When we...More

Timed our visit to perfection enjoying the later part of the day which is not so busy & high tide for the best action. Pleasant Scenic Short Walk from Road.

Takes 40 mins and the geology plus vegetation is extremely interesting and the site is immaculate. Most of it is very accessible too! Don’t miss this even if it’s ☔️ again. Good visitor shop and clean amenities with parking across the road.

Who said anything about seeing kiwi? I went back and read my review and there is no mention of any birds. We did see white fronted terns nesting in the rocks which I did not mention since they were a bit far away.

The best time to visit is an hour either side of high tide as that is when the blowhole is most spectacular. I suggest you do some research on tide times before your visit.

There should be a bus leaving from Greymouth. or go to the information centre in Greymouth and see if there is a tour bus.
