Virtually derelict site, fenced off but visible from Gouvia’s scruffy, pebbly beach. No information on the history and IMO not worth travelling to visit. I see it asa metaphor for so many of Corfu’s historic sites, left to fend for themselves due to Greece’s economic woes.

I think this site has UNESCO World Heritage status, it’s a shame the local authorities don’t look after it.
It was fenced and gated and locked when we visited. It appears there was a sort of visitor centre/entrance etc but that was shut and dilapidated. The site was somewhat overgrown also and there is no signage or information about the history or indeed anything.
It’s such a shame that people in these holiday areas are only interested in anything that makes someone money and they can’t see the value in this sort of historical site.

It's ok. Would not travel to see this, but ok to walk past if you happen to be in the area. It's not very easy to find, we walked accidentally past it.

It’s a land Mark more than a tourist attraction. When we went there was someone walking through it. But they had clearly hopped a fence and ignored the many signs.
Your enjoyment isn’t more valuable than preserving a historical site. Please follow the instructions.
There were signs to suggest an investment from the Greek government to improve and renovate the sight. So fingers crossed they can make more of an attraction or this site.

We walked past this old monument quite a few times walking along the beach in Gouvia and found it quite intriguing, never having seen any structures quite like this before. It was built by the Venetians in the early 18th century and was used until the end of the century, and only the arches remain. It is fenced off so you can't walk into it but it's very easy to see nevertheless. Only about 15-20 minutes' drive from Corfu town it is worth a visit. Gouvia has plenty more to offer in terms of eating and drinking so you could combine the visit with a pleasant stay in this town. I have recommended the restaurant Food for the Soul on here as well, well worth a visit for dinner.

If you find old warehouses interesting make the trip, if not then I really wouldn't bother. I think they just forgot to knock it down once it was abandoned.

Not a deal there but a lovely insight into when the Venetians ruled the Island. Situated on a very pebbly beach with an unattractive but friendly little bar

This is such an interesting place. We had a good look around and enjoyed our stroll in the baking heat! Plenty of local bars to grab that cold beer.

Was a nice walk to the Venetian arsenal and interesting side of history which is widely know about. However wouldn’t go out my way to visit this location or come back but if in the area would recommend have a look.
