If you happen to be Roman Catholic, you must visit this church and not just read what miracle happened here almost 800 years ago, but which you can still see today.
Even if you are not Roman Catholic, this place of peace and prayer can kickstart your own spiritual journey.
Aside from the miracle, the art and architecture in the church is beautiful. Must see.

We were fortunate to attend a service in this quaint church dedicated to the Holy Miracle. Check the wall paintings depicting scenes which tell the story of the miracle that occurred centuries ago. Pilgrims through the ages come here to venerate the consecrated Host.

What a blessing to see the Host turned into blood, still fresh after 770 years! Don't miss but make sure you call ahead so they can open for you!

This is a must see! So blessed to be Catholic and to be able to witness and adore the Holy Host. I wanted to see lines of people waiting to get in to see the miracle, but it was only me and my daughter. This will be the first place I stop and stay for awhile the next time I am in Portugal. It inspired me to pray for the churches and the Church every day to rise up again and be part of people's daily lives. What a beautiful witness to our living God and His Mercy and Love for all of us.
Thank you and Blessings,
Cheryl Weber

We drove and it is not an easy finding this Church to find as there are more than 30 churches within Santarem. It was definitely worth the effort. It is a beautiful church and the architecture is truly amazing with an equally amazing history on the "bleeding" host which is a sight forever ingrained in my memory (no photography allowed).

The Church of the Most Holy Miracle does certainly deserve a visit. First try to read about the history of this miracle.

it is a important visit and evidence that eucharist is True. Although we have to rent a car with the driver for 150 eur0 for 3 hours form fatima, we all satisfied. The Eucharist Miracle is stored on the tabernacle, that we can visit by helping of the staff on the sacristy. And if you lucky (Amen Like us) , that we can see also the chaple that miracles happen at 1226, not far from the church, walking around 600 m.

Formerly known as St. Stephen Church, it is now named as the Church of the Holy Miracle, visited by thousands of Catholic pilgrims each year. The main attraction of this shrine is a Eucharistic or Communion host, encased in a silver monstrance and placed on display atop the altar. It is said to be the same consecrated wafer, which a desperate wife took home - instead of consuming during communion. She believed that the host would help her gain back the affection of her unfaithful husband. The consecrated host started to bleed and the scared wife threw it inside a trunk in the house. Later that night, both husband and wife were awakened by a mysterious light coming from the trunk. This was followed by more miracles. After investigating, the Church recognized the miracle. Today, visitors can view this host from a passage way at the rear of the altar. The place is not far from Fatima and is about 4 miles away from Lisbon.

It’s gives me the chill to know the story of the lady who took the host home and the miracle that occurred. Lovely church inside. We had the chance to attend mass during our pilgrimage.

The Church has a morning Mass but it closes after, but the Eucharistic miracle is exposed upon request only. Our driver David from Driveless Company called Odette (the lady in charge) the day before to arrange a time for us to visit, 10:30 was arranged. Getting to the Church is very tricky!

Do you have to buy a ticket to see this church? Just curious how difficult it would be to visit this church if I am not with a group that organized a time to see the Eucharistic miracle.

Sorry for the delay. As I recall the caretaker simply asked for a donation.
