Well, I accidentally stumbled into this place because somehow everyone except me seems to have known about this place. This is right down the street of M.G. Market, a lane going down on the right, next to a vegetarian place. Everyone told me about the M.G. Market but no one told me about Lal bazar which is why I decided to write a separate review for this place. This was a very busy place which can be accessed through the terrace of some building somehow and also through the street below. There are several stores selling so many wares that I do not even know where to start. If you are travelling back home after Gangtok, then I advise you to stock up on all you need to buy from here itself. You will need to bargain here and I saw many people walking with big fat bags of stuff that they shopped from here. I totally recommend this place. Please carry your own big bags lest the small bags fall from your hand. Secondly, wear comfortable shoes because you will be walking up and down several storeys of several buildings.

Lal Bazaar,as i had know it then was a local farmers market, where on Sundays you could see the local village folk get their fresh produce and it had a charm to it.It was an open area with small tin shed shops on the sides. Now where the market stood,a massive structure looms and is packed like sardines in a can with shops and people. The lower floor area is for veggies etc..mostly from Siliguri although Sikkim touts to be an organic state and as you walk upstairs its filled with clothes/shoes shops etc with the top floor connecting to M.G.Marg via stairs. If you are looking for peace and solitude in the Himalayas this certainly isn't it.
