I went to sikkim with my family ( 3 members). Sikkim is very beautiful and worth visiting in the month of december . we were lucky to witness snowfall .
all the bookings to the valley Lachen and Lauchung were done by cabinsikkim . The experince was ok. The cabs are highly priced but I think that's the usual price in that hilly region.
The cab driver Palden Lepcha was helpful . We stayed in Lachun paradise and Lachen Paradise . Hotel staff were too good. They took care of all of us in heavy snowfall. We couldn't visit all the places of itinerary due to snowfall.
overall a good experience and a place worth visiting. I would suggest to book cab in advance if you are going in peak season bcoz there are a limited number of cabs and a limited number of hotels.

Visited Sikkim during october 2021,DOW forum was very helpful for planning the entire tour. But for my surprise our tour Driver Jimmy (better to address him our tour manager) was very helpful and informative and took us to places beyond our itinerary within the agreed tour cost. He was just like a friend and caring brother throughout our tour helping us with his local knowledge . He also helped us to arrange nice hotels at cheap rates.. I will always recommend him to all because he is a very cautious driver and never in a hurry for overtaking and driving at reckless speed, this is the one of the best qualities he possesses which I feel is very much needed while driving in dangerous high mountains . He owns a Innova Crysta and it is equipped with all the modern gadgets.He was just like a friend and caring brother throughout our tour helping us with his local knowledge and cautioning us about AMS. They are nice while finalize the trip and payment, but the service is very, very poor. Simultaneously, the Gangtok driver was coming at 11.30 AM and still drop back at the hotel at 4 pm as per the deal. And the worst part is while traveling in Darjeeling, the driver did not come up to the parking area at the ropeway and zoo just because saving his petrol and one-way root. We walk a long way with a 2-year-old child... Be aware … find someone good for your tour... this travel agency is best in say to sorry for poor service only.

Critical: Professionalism, Value
I had one really good, and one unpleasant experience with the proprietor Prem. I was travelling with my senior citizen parents, our Lachen - Latchung leg of the journey had to be modified as stays in Lachen and Lachung were not allowed.
Drivers were excellent, and the cabs really good.
Initial interaction with Prem also good. I paid 3000 advance from kolkata itself.
Couple of issues:
1. Prem knew about it and decided to disclose it to me on the night before (Lachen Lachung no stay over issue)
2. Forced me to stay at a below average stay at a pathetic home stay in Naga stating he does not have any other contacts.
3. Since Gurudongmar ls also closed, there s no point in going to Lachen. You can manage the trip with one night halt, again not informed.
4. We decided to return as we could not stay in Naga. This is where the gentleman (Prem) started behaving oddly.
5. As I mentioned earlier, travelling with old parents, he was negotiating on the price as the tour was severely curtailed. (1 day less than the plan)
6. Since we were on our way back, i told him, whatever the amount minus advance and fuel costs paid, i ll pay the rest once we arrive at the hotel.
7. He literally asked the driver to STOP the vehicle in the middle of nowhere in freezing cold, and said, pay me or else vehicle will not move.
Hardly for a dispute of 1500 rupees, we were stuck. I did not have much choice, somehow begged the drivers feet to move the cab, arranged cash whatever I had, paid him in full and got out at our hotel.
I spoke with Sikkim tourism officials and was advised to launch a formal complaint, i will do that as soon as I am out of Sikkim state border as I feel really unsafe, threatened and humiliated, expletives were used during our phone conversation with regards to my dad.
We understand that economy and business has been dull this year, but this kind of behaviour was completely unexpected.
Lesson learnt, better to book cabs as you go along, local drivers are not that bad. OR book through your hotel.
Trust me, he will give you some sob story about what happened, but I am a deeply disturbed by the turn of events, don't know if he was drunk or having a bad day, but we expect better.... Much better....

Sikkim is a place I would suggest tourists to avoid. The most uncooperative and undisciplined drivers and even the tour planners. Everyone tries to cheat you and you won't enjoy at all. Rather I would suggest you to go manali or any other hill stations in Himachal or Uttrakhand. People come here for nathula pass and the same can be enjoyed on rohtang pass in manali. Coming to sikkim is totally a waste of money. You might come across guides telling you that people here are co-operative and helpful but when you visit it is completely opposite. Thus, in my opinion coming to sikkim is completely waste of time and money.

Dear Sir it is your opinion and I like it but due to weather condition and road blockage you could not able to visit Nathula pass in which we also cannot do anything against nature.
As far as your tour plan is concern we have share the tour plan before you book again I personally came to your hotel we mat and greet each other and I told due to weather condition some places are blocked.
I gave 2 to 3 options for tour plan and explain and finally as per your opinion you have selected the option and I told the driver to take as per this new tour plan.
Lastly sorry for not able to visit some blocked places like nathula and yumthang.
Hope I have done my best as a Tour Manager and given the details of tour before you start your tour.

Mr. Lalit Tenzing and our all time cab hero Chung da was very helpful and even suggested local sites and food which I loved alot.

Mr Santosh is great! Best and safe driver…excellent guide, extremely knowledgeable. Totally reliable and punctual. Suggested so many things and places that made our trip enjoyable and memorable. Has a very comfortable car, with ample space for luggages. Truly he is the best in Darjeeling and Sikkim. Very lovely personality and kind, we would recommend him with absolutely no reservation.

Difficult to find a better guide than Santosh Gupta to travel in Sikkim.
He knows all the best places to visit and makes excellent suggestions for food stalls. His sense of humor is outstanding and makes long journeys seem much shorter, and not just because he likes to chew of the special cheese during hours on end.
We had a great time with him and highly recommend his driving.

I was allocated very rude and unprofessional drivers for my trip. They take the money upfront before the start of the trip and you cant ask it back. One driver threw my luggage out of the car after arguing and the owner lalit Gurung says that I might have said something wrong. The driver Upendra always chews tobacco in the car and is rude.
In Darjeeling I was given another driver called kiran. All the trip he was grumpy and demanded Rs 500 to take us 1 km extra to see a tea factory. The manager in Darjeeling Sanjay is a huge fraud.
They take 3000 rs for car permit to nathula pass but they club 3-4 cars and fit 10 people in a third party sumo and save money by not taking permits and lie that they didn't get the permit.
My advice is that you avoid Tamu tours and treks (sikkimdarjeelingtaxis.com)

We booked a 4 day family tour from this travels, looking at their ratings and paying the full amount without any negotiation, expecting to receive top service. The first 3 days went fine, but on the last day the driver alloted (Mr. Bishnu) began to behave inappropriately. We wanted to have lunch in a proper restaurant, which irked him, mainly coz he would have some commission system with some roadside stalls where we didn't want to go. He began shouting and driving unsafely at times. The limit was crossed when he stopped the car on the side of the road, asking us to shift in an unknown taxi, saying that he has to go back to his hometown, and asked us to pay the new taxi driver extra. This pushed us to ask a nearby policeman, who helped us and rebuffed him, noting a complaint against him.
This tour agency may seem polished and professional, but they will not do anything about their aggressive, abusive and unruly drivers when the time comes. They just collect the money upfront and leave the tourist to the mercy of these egostical and unprofessional drivers. Posting this review of our experience in public interest.

You are asking the cost of the trip. Unless you decide which parts of Sikkim you visit you cannot get the price. These are not fixed but vary from taxi to taxi. I suggest you not to bother about price but get in touch with them and bargain to have a good deal.all the best
