The pub is superb, has reasonably priced drinks, really tasty food that you would want to go back for, and the owner was amazing.
I called to check if they had seats right before closing time and the owner informed me that they were about to close but would keep the kitchen open a little late if my two friends and I were definitely going. So we went, and ordered a drink, some momos and mains.
They had Smirnoff apple which I didn't find at other pubs. The patiala chicken which I ordered was INCREDIBLE. I was full and couldn't finish but brought it back to the hotel for others to taste. I also wanted to go back and have some for lunch the next day but we couldn't make the time and I regret it.
In addition to all this, the owner called after we reached to check if everything is okay. I was getting ready to start the next leg of travel the next day and the owner texted once again to make sure the food and service were okay and thanked us for coming over. It was truly very nice and it felt like they really care about customers.
Will definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting.

Downtown is a place you dont really need someone to accompany you.. you ll find urself around loads of people dat will call u friend.. its like a second home to me.. love 2 sing and dance wid ma friends all around..u ll find n amazing host Dheeru bhai, who also happens to b d owner..d staffs r such swthrts..n also dey ve n open mic..so dnt wry if u cnt sing well..coz every1 ll always b der 2 cheer n clap 4 u..hope 2 make new frnds n start new chapter called DOWNTOWN BUDDIES..

Sometimes, I take an hour or two off from work and come here for lunch. I have close personal ties with the owner and the restaurant, but I have closer ties with the quality of food served here. The first few times was a fluke, or so I thought because the quality, quantity, portions of all the items are very consistent. The staff is friendly and responsive. It has been more than a year that I have come to Downtown RestoBar each and every single day. I have never made good and reliable friends easier.
Did I mention they have an open mic on Saturdays? I really do hog the stage; so if you decide to join in, you have got to bring your A-game. Haha.

Great food, awesome ambiance, and amazing drinks are hygiene when it comes to describing Downtown. What truly makes this place standout are the beautiful people that own it. Although it was first visit to Sikkim, but i didnt fell like one.. Music, food, drinks, and new friends went till late night in the bar without a fuss.. Thats why i call this place a "home away from home"
PS.: Try the panner dishes, they are lipsmacking, also the beer rates are way cheaper compared to any other cafe/bar on MG Marg.

In the heart of M.G.Marg where everything happens the best place to relax with friends over good food and a with a view over the town.

Downtown and the friendly people around is a must. Delicious Nepali soups and momos in a beautiful rooftop where you can see MG Marg. The staff and the owner are such a cool people so well coming. If you like music ask for a guitar... in a few minutes the whole bar will be in a jam session! Best nightlife in Sikkim for sure. Thanks for such amazing time!

I went here 3-4 times when I was in Gangtok and it’s a nice place to chill with a beer. The prices are low. They also host Karaoke nights on weekends which is good. Like the outdoor seating from where you can see the MG road. I ordered honey chilly potatoes and they gave big chunks of boiled potatoes which were quite sweet. It was awful. I expect french fries coated in a sweet and tangy sauce.

Well i was on solo trip!!! i often come to Gangtok my fav place to hang around is mg marg avenue. There you'll get Dj's Downtown. Food is good, service is excellent they offer live band only on weekend if you're travelling on week days don't expect to get band. Perfect for couple and if you're traveling with your friends. Not recommend with kids and family.

Downtown has become a favorite place of mine in Gangtok. Have been here four (and counting ) times ever since I moved here, and not once have I left it feeling unsatisfied.
Karaoke night on Saturdays, and the place is full of fun and friendly people.

Hi, I was there on MG Road, Gangtok in Feb 2014. But I was not aware of this place. Gangtok is such a beautiful city. I am already in love with it. Missed this Resto Bar.....next time for sure visit.

Nikhilsg,If you stand outside the State bank of India Atm,near the Mahatma Gandhi statue and look across the street Downtown is clearly visible on the 2nd & 3rd Floor.
