Quite a busy place with many monks/students around during our visit. A good uphill walk from the car park, so the elderly and infirm need to take care. The main stupa is surrounded by prayer wheels and a candle room generating massive heat loads is of additional interest.

very long way to go , and climb high, with high hopes,.... it was good ... but just to visit a normal stupa , not extra ordinary . we were tired of visiting so many places within 2 days at a very long distance . if you are interested in visiting religious places , like to feel possitive energy of such places , you need enough time

This is a small stupa , situated at a hill top. Very beautiful and well maintained. Peaceful atmosphere.Institute of Tibetology is near this site. The architecture will leave u amazed. They have numerous "Diyas" for world peace. U can spend sometime in peace.

Do Drul Chrten Stupa is located at a short walking distance from the Research Institute of Tibetology and on a hillock. The cab will drop you at the roadside of the base from where a steep uphill pathwayof about 500 m leads to the stupa. The white Chorten Stupa is marked by a golden top dome. This golden top can be seen from various places in Gangtok . The deity enshrined on top of the chorten stupa is known as Dorjee Phurpa or Vajra Kilaya. This chorten is regarded as one of the most important chortens of Sikkim. It is a nice peaceful place to visit and experience the traditions. The visit to the place provides glimpse of the Buddhist world. The peace chakras all around, and a fairly large prayer hall with statues of the lord and lamas are typical of the experience in a Buddhist monastery.

best part about this place was the climb down :) .jokes aside ,did not find it that interesting .Maybe if you are into this sort of stuff you may find it appealing. As few other people have mentioned earlier ,just a stupa (captain obvious). Its near to the tibetan museum ,so you can drop in there if your legs are already not tired enough.

Unless you know about the Buddhist religion , you don't really understand the significance of these stupas. It is enormous and has small drums with some scriptures written in it, all around the stupa. people who do pradakshina rotate the drums as they go around the stupa. this is to ward of the evil and bring peace.

Not as popular as Ranka or Enchy, but the whole experience is different. Far from the din, amidst the buddhist chants, it is simply time to lose yourself. The alter is also very differnt from Ranka and Enchy. I really loved this.

30 minute from town.Except the stupa there is nothing noteworthy there. If you park the car in car park it is a lot of incline to go up about 300 yards.
