The place is the residence of the LG of Pondicherry and hence entry is not permitted. One can however have a look at the expansive garden and the intricate carvings on the various statues.

Big white palatial building.

Guarded by gendarmes with their red Kempis, this is the official residence of the lieutenant governor of Pondicherry. You can’t get in however, so you peer through the gates! Really not worth the effort unless you are on a rickshaw trip!

Beautiful Architecture

An interesting combination of Indian and French architecture, Raj Niwas, is the official residence of the Lieutenant Governors of Pondicherry. Completed around 1738, it is a beautiful "house".

Built in typical Indian fashion there is a courtyard on the ground floor of the house. Beautifully carved wooden pillars surround the courtyard. Decorated masonry columns of European design support a first floor terrace.

Outside a water monument is placed in the middle of a well-maintained garden. The lawns are decorated with sculptures. Two canons sit on either side of the main gate. Unfortunately you will only get a glimpse of the elegant white mansion from outside the gates since it is not open to the public.

all the palces that you can see in the town are beatifull and speck about the past of this town about the importance that this town had,all of them are nice no on is extraordinary,the best thing to do is to walk and to discover the town

Very impressive Governors Residence.

Present Governor is a Lady and in their Police Force.
Parking not allowed so you have to walk down.
Very impressive building with lovely gardens.

It the Governor House(actually (Lt. Governor). Historical building. Well maintained with lots of greenery. Inside visit is not allowed.

Located opposite to the Bharti Government park, this building as the name suggest is the house of governor of Pondicherry. I had heard that they issue passes for 40 visitors per day to visit certain sections of raj bhavan but on inquiring from guards, I came to know it is subjective to governor’s decision and visits are authorised by governor so couldn’t visit inside of the place.

A beautiful building in a charming place

Right opposite to the entry to Bhathi park and a few steps away from the Aurobindo Adhram stands this monumental building where the governor of Pondicherry resides.

A gorgeous old building where the Governor of Pondicherry resides. It's opposite to the main park. You can stroll down here in the evenings and then go to the Rock Beach for an ice candy!

This luxurious house is official residence of the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Pondycherry. It is situated in White Town, and very near to the sea side Promenade. Opposite to The Raj Nivas, Bharathi Garden is there. So if you are going to the beach, you can see on the way Raj Nivas from road side as entry to the general public is permitted only on some special occasions.
