At the end of the boulevard at the Goubert Avenue, the Statue of Joseph Francois Dupleix, the then governor of Pondicherry is located on the beach road. It is housed inside the Dupleix’s Park at Pondicherry. The black statue stands 2.88 meters tall and is installed at the southern end of the park. It was installed by the French government as... We have read about Dupleix in our history book . He seemed to be cordial with native Indians.Personally I admired him.

The Statue of Dupleix was a big disappointment. I wish I visited the place at night...at least the lights would have created some kind of attraction. It stands on the end of the Rock beach.

Can't call it a tourist attraction as it is just one more statue in Pondy, in respect of the French Governor, located at the end of Promenade on Beach Road, inside the Children's Park. Can be viewed along with other attractions on the Promenade.

Situated at one end of the promenade by the Alliance Francais which is worth a drop in as well. Set in nice gardens with some basic information it's a good place to take a break and watch the world go by.

It's a good statue with a small park around it. Seaside promonade walkway starts from this place and goes all the way to French Embassy. Nothing great about this attraction as such, however, one can spend 10-15 min while visiting Seaside Promonade.

We had made a quick stopover at this small park which is located towards the end of sea side promenade during our sightseeing in Pondicherry. We found a beautiful statue of legendary French general Dupleix among the beautifully maintained manicured lawns and clicked a single pic. This is not a must see attraction and can be visited along with sea... More

The statue is in the remembrance of the French Governor General Joseph François Dupleix. Its located at the Goubert Avenue towards the end of Promenade at the Rock Beach. The statue we see today is the restored version. There is a small garden surrounding the statue as well.

Found it to be just part of the beach view. Nothing great. The Public Toilet is near to the place and when I visited the statue, the smell nearby was horrible.
