- FreeIndianBirdNew Delhi, India136 contributionsOrdinary beach but still better than others in PondiIf you have been to Goa and saw many beaches then this place will not excite you but in pondi it is the one clean & nice beach. It is far from main city 8 kms and there is entry fee of 350 approx per head in which they will take you to beach through boat and you can spend time , take bath & click pics on beach. Else there is 2 option to choose fairy and take ride only and it is cheaper than 1 option. They have maintained it nicley and made huts to relax there.Visited February 2020Written 24 February 2020
- Arun RajaramChennai (Madras), India123 contributionsHeaven - Chunnambar Boat HouseThe beach is absolutely fantastic and it is the best in Puducherry considering the beauty. Very shallow, safe for kids and well maintained. It's very clean. You can take bath in the sea. Free rooms are available for changing the dress, restaurant and refreshment stores were also available where you can take rest and have delicious seafood but quite expensive. Usually not overly crowdy and the beach is very calm and the ambience is quite nice for a family or young couple who loves some peace. One shouldn't miss an opportunity to visit this beach and wet your feet. You have to take a boat ride of around 10 minutes to visit the main beach. So you can enjoy the beautiful backwater. The motor boat charged ₹300 for the trip. There are speedboats as well, which charge max ₹1800. The closing time is around 6pm. It's an amazing place to spend an entire day.Visited January 2020Travelled with familyWritten 1 May 2020
- Amit JKolkata (Calcutta), India882 contributionsCleanest and best beach in Pondicherry .. must visitThis is the cleanest beach in Pondicherry. Reaching this place is a bit of pain, because you have to take a ferry ride for which during tourist season you may have to stand in queues for upto one hour both for getting to the beach and then getting out of there. The cost of ferry ride is Rs. 300 per person and it takes about 15 minutes to get to the beach in ferry, after the one hour queue. I saw someone write that he took only 120 seconds to reach the ferry in the queue. I will ask people not to trust that review as this person may have visited in summer heat when no one wants to sit on the beach. We did not explore the road route to the beach, but if someone wants to, it is well worth it given that you will save time and enjoy more of the beach. If you are in Pondicherry, Paradise Beach is a must visit place and may even be the highlight of your tour if you manage to spend enough time at this place. Definitely the best attraction in Pondicherry.Visited January 2020Written 28 January 2020

Paradise Beach in Pondicherry offers a pristine and tranquil escape, with its powdery white sands and crystal-clear waters. To access this idyllic spot, you can take a ferry from Chunnambar boat house. The beach is flanked by a river on one side and the sea on the other, creating a picturesque setting. It's known for its cleanliness, with commendable facilities, including changing rooms and washrooms, and friendly staff to enhance your experience.
This beach is not just about relaxation; it offers an array of water sports and activities for all. You can enjoy horse riding, desert bike riding, and more. Boat rides are available at an additional cost, covering three places around the beach. In-house restaurants are available, though they can be a bit pricey, and the food is average.
In terms of activities, prices range from 20 Rs for a camera fee to 300 Rs for an ATV ride. Other options include fish spa, bungy trampoline, water sorbing, kids trampoline, Gyro Ride, and a rain dance session for 50 Rs per person, lasting 30 minutes. The beach is divided into government and private sections. The government side lacks activities, while the private side offers more recreational options.
However, be cautious when it comes to certain activities and services as they might charge high prices and offer subpar services. Swimming might not be allowed due to safety reasons, so be mindful of that. To avoid crowds, visiting early in the morning is recommended.
Paradise Beach is conveniently located just 8 km from the city centre, making it easily accessible. You can choose from various means of transportation, including auto-rickshaws, buses, or private cabs from top car rental companies in Pondicherry to reach the Chunnambar boathouse. Whether you're a beach enthusiast or seeking adventure, Paradise Beach has something for everyone, making it one of the must-visit destinations in Pondicherry.

This is one Beach at Puducherry which u have to access through a boat/ferry. The same can be taken from Chunnambar Boat House. The first boat is at 0900 and the last return boat is at 1730.
The Boat ride is nice and pleasant. The Beach is clean and not overly crowded. However during afternoon times the Sand is very hot.
There are not many activities available except camel and horse ride. There are shacks that sell Coconut Water and one Shack which doubles as a Beach restaurant. The menu is quite adequate but pricing is high and the seating comfort is not there. There is also a fish spa available.
Avoid getting wet into the Sea as there are no adequate bathing facilities.
Overall worth a visit only once ( More so because of the restricted timings )

This is one of the cleanest beach in Pondicherry. You need to take a ferry to beach. If you are going into water, pls note that shower area is very dirty and smells badly. Sometimw, there is no water also. So it will be difficult to clean yourself after a bath in the sea. Limited fun activities - camel and horse ride etc. Can see people drinking opening on the beach and no one was taking any action.
Ferry ticket should be kept for return journey as well.

To reach paradise Beach you have to go chunamdar boat house. There's Rs 10/- ticket for entry and Rs 354/- for Boat ride, which takes you to the beach. It's sandy beach without any facilities. Only shaby huts for tea etc are there. Last boat is at 5.30 pm. If you have seen Goa beaches you will not enjoy this beach. No hustle bustle like Goa beaches.

Could have been much better on the activities front and also, the prices are too high for any food we purchase. That's it!

5th January 2023.Paradise beach.
The charge for drop and pick up to Paradise beach is Rs. 354/- per person. It is white sand beach. You can swim in it, it has dangerous waves coming to shore. Camel ride, cart ride, shooting sports available, no water sport.
Visitors have to cross the Chunnambar backwaters by boat to reach Paradise Beach. These boats leave from Chunnambar boathouse around 6 km from Pondicherry. The beach has shelters and palm trees for shade and protection from the sun and rain. There is one small bar which serves soft drinks and snacks.

Beach was excellent and it's trip through a boat was enjoyable. The ticket counter can be planned properly, lost lot of time. The eateries at the beach are poorly maintained. Had to wait for an hour for a veg sandwich. Better planning to handle large crowds during holiday season is required.

You can reach Paradise beach by taking a boat from Chunnambar boat house. The charge for drop and pick up to Paradise beach is Rs. 354/- per person. It is white sand beach. You can swim in the beach. Though you cant go too deep in the water. There are lifeguards which keep an eye on the visitors. The facility to change and shower is almost non existent. You can have some food and drink but there are not much to offer for eating. A part of beach is owned privately by a resort and only Pondicherry Government can tell how they have started seeling occean and beaches ot private players but you are not allowed to enter the part of sea owned by the private player. It is the best beach in Pondicherry where you can get wet. You can easily spend 2 - 3 hours on the beach. There is no beach sports though.
A few more tips for Pondy travellers :-
1. Hire a scooty or scooter to move around. They are convenient and cost effective. The ricksaw here charge Mercedez per Km rates and travellers are meant to be cheated.
2. Stay in white town area even if it is expensive. It is the most happening area and essence of Pondy. There are a lot of food joints in this area, you will surely enjoy.
3. Spend an evenining on Promenade beach. A walk on the road adjacent to the beach is an exclusive experience.
4. Go to Auroville (Matrimandir) if and only if you can walk a lot. Personally I did not find it worth to view Matrimandir dome from 500m after walking a lot. Of course, you are curious about Auroville philosophy, you should pay a visit.
5. Visit Villa Shanti for food lovers. Decor is excellent. There is some variety in food (limited choice fo Vagetarion people though). It is a different experience but pricey.

During my recent visit got to know there is a road (towards left) as soon as you enter the lane of Paradise Beach. This is motorable road straight to the beach and the experience is far better than the one you visit via boat.

How to get to paradise beach from Puducherry bus stand? Any public means of transportation available?
Or we have to hire or rent a private vehicle?

People generally rent bikes because all the beaches are quite inside from the main road so no buses will take you right upto the beach but yes buses are available and rest you will have to walk it through
Is there any resort or hotel by the beach to stay

I saw one resort but I could not tell if it was opened or not. Most probably it was not..... Things might have change in the mean time, I was there 4 months ago.
