While the scenery itself is very typical of tropical Asia, a boat ride down the river is still a welcomed experience. There is also an option to ride to Paradise Beach, a strip of sand right at the end of the boat ride. It is also possible to join the boat tour on a shared group basis to bring the cost down.

Chunnamber boat house is a symbolic name of ferry service centre. You will see a house boat there, but now the boat is dilapidated. Entry fees is ₹10 for above 10 years &  ₹ 5 for 6 to 10 years. Parking charges seperate according to your vehicle. This is gateway to paradise Beach island.  You can go there either moto boat or speed boat as per your choice. You will cross Chunnamber river to reach the island. It was awesome experience. Kids will definitely enjoy this ride.  First boat timing is 9:30AM and last boat will leave on 3:45 PM, so plan accordingly. You can also visit Paradise Island by road, but I will suggested go by boat.

The ferrying boats are super slow and very crowded. No life jackets.

The activities in the beach are few and they charge a lot for the rides.

Cafe: limited menu with overpriced essential items (like coffee, tea, etc.)

We have visited puducherry last week 12/08/22-15/08/22.We started at 1:00AM From hyderabad and reached Mangohill resort,Auroville @ 2:00 pm.
We have booked French room -very nice, beautiful and ample place.

Day 1 :We went to rock beach but nothing much to do at rock beach only you can have few snaps and street food(Quality not assured, we didn't try)

Day2: we went to Paradise beach, awesome place to spend decent time (If its a sunny day it will be tough with children),plan a little early else you have to stand in a long que. Normal days Ferry will open at 8 am, weekends and on holidays it will open at 6a.m..Afternoon You can visit matrimandir at auroville another pleasant place .

If your plan for dinner at somewhere you have to select a place and be there by 7/7:30 else it will be difficult to find a table in any restaurant and most of the restaurants will be done by 10:pm.

Day3: You can visit puducherry museum and French colony to have beautiful pics with family and friends, then have a lunch at SURUGURU Veg restaurant an authentic south Indian thali fills your carvings .Near by you will find a beautiful temple then you can do shopping at JN Street especially for girls/ladies ,quality is very good and price is very cheap.

Day4 :Lazy morning and post breakfast spent time in pool and played few games at resort then we started our Journey with Awesome memories and experience.

Cautions:

Parking: when you visit French colony/rock beach/JN Street: Park your vehicle at parking area only though it is a little far else police will lock your vehicle's wheel for improper parking.

For dinner: Plan and reach in time else your plan will be upset.

Carry a good sunscreen lotion with you when you visit any beach during the day.

Serving is little slow in almost all the places you have to bear with them .

The name appears to be because a house boat is parked to view. Overall the place is for a boat ride to the Paradise beach on the sea front. The boat ride was good and reasonably fast. However, gets a bit crowded. The Paradise beach was quite a clean beach not too crowded and worthy of a visit. There are shade places near the beach where one can sit and enjoy.

I traveled with my family around 4:30 PM. It rained a little till 3:30 PM and the sun came out subsequently. However the boating to Paradises island was stopped citing the so called rain. Better check before travelling there.
