SACRED SILENCE UNDER GREEN FOREST. Filled with Agarbatti Smoke ....
Really Not A Tourist Place in General, but a place for spiritual experience! Depending upon the level one's soul has reached, vibrations can be felt near the Aurobindo Samadhi, vicinity of which can induce deep meditation and calmness, but not a cup of tea for everybody. Photography and mobile use are prohibited inside ashram premises. Devotees of The Mother and Maharshi Aurobindo can buy philosophical books in a nearby store, Ashram also arranges pure veg meals at subsidized rates. Mass meditation and other spiritual uplift activities are constantly going on.

    Serene Without Any Vibrations
Pondicherry is mainly about the Ashram and it is a serene place set in the French Quarter. However, it is devoid of any vibrations thanks primarily to the tamsik / rajsik energy of the ashramites and devotees who flock here. I have been here multiple times with same reaction. You may visit Sri Aurobindo's and Mother's rooms with prior permission on the same day at site.

    Personal choice
There is really nothing to see here. People are gathering to venerate at this tomb and I felt out of place. You need to leave your shoes on the other side of the road before entering and there is a carpet to walk on. If you are adept there is a small library inside where you can buy all books relevant.

An absolute must when in Puducherry! The greenery and the meditation hall are magneficient. Book for the meditation hall in advance as it is impossible to get same day entry.

A great place for family outing. Be prepared for long walks. Carry a hat and enjoy the ambience. Good restaurant available and the ashrams produce is available from the shop.

As you leave your footwear and mobiles outside, you realize that you are entering a serene place, where silence defines the ambience. The ashram, apart from the samadhi, has a garden, a library et al

The Ashram is a place for quiet reflection with the enormous "Service Tree" providing shade over the white marble Samadhi (tomb) of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. The top of the tomb is adorned with decoratively arranged flower petals, and there are also many plants and fragrant flowers in bloom around the tomb. When planning your visit, please remember mobile phones MUST be turned off, there no photos are allowed, shoes cannot be worn inside, and you must remain silent. It is a truly peaceful and tranquil place, a stark contrast to the hustle and bustle of Pondicherry located just outside the Ashram's walls.

If you are into meditation, this may be your place! They are also strict to ensure that mobile phones are off before entering, so you get to have your private space without tourists clicking shots around you. Only a small section is allowed for tourists so I finished it quite fast as I would like to see other sites in Pondicherry too.

The Aurobindo Ashram needn't much intro. A peaceful and calm place where you can sit and do meditation. Entry is free but one condition Mobile phone should be switch off  and shoe will be removed before entering the Ashram. There is a bookshop, you can buy different languages book and photos of Sri Aurobindo and Mother for enlightening own spiritual life or to gift someone else.

Given an average feedback because there is only Samadhi of Sri Aurobindo is to be seen where you can give flowers. Nothing else. Another shop is there from where you can buy books and souvenirs. I expected much more things to see but nothing in display

The Sri Aurobindo Ashram is one of the most famous and wealthy ashrams in India. The Ashram is within walking distance of Manakula Vinayagar Temple and Rock Beach. Through permanent exhibits of photographs, captions, tests, videos, and books, the center also provides an introduction to Sri Aurobindo's vision and The Mother's spiritual practice. Only a small portion of the premises is accessible to visitors. The environment is extremely calm and serene. Inside the building, you are not allowed to use your phone or speak. Outside the ashram, your shoes and chappals must be removed and placed on racks opposite the ashram. Cleanliness and order are maintained in the ashram by volunteers and associates. It is worth going, but there is not a lot to do or see.
