- podrozniczka60New Jersey14,816 contributionsArguably the best attraction of Pondicherry.Busy but less crowded than the streets of the city . And finally no cars. Great opportunity for “people watching”. Colorful and beautifully dressed locals at leisure. People on the beach. Elderly on benches. Iconic Gandhi statue. Beautiful Bay of Bengal and the strip of the beach. The view of the lighthouse and church in the background. Well planed part of the city every visitor should enjoy.Visited March 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 7 March 2023
- James cOklahoma City, Oklahoma186 contributionsNice walk nice rock beachI spent 2 days in pondicherry, walked through the old lighthouse to get to it. You then see Gandhi memorial as you walk onto promenade. No cars are allowed. Many locals, very few foreigners but very safe , the breeze from the bay of bengal is amazing They say not to swim but further right I found a spot and layed out western style, current and water temperature was fine. All the buildings are white and rocks are along the main section. I spent the whole day on the beach on 2nd day here. Main attraction in pondicherryVisited February 2023Travelled soloWritten 13 March 2023

- Gana60 contributionsBest place for a long walkIt is best place to have a long walk with your family. It was really good for us to walk for a long time and feel little relaxed with the sea view. Little difficult to park the car, as we have to park it somewhere little away and walk from there to reach this placeVisited September 2023Travelled with familyWritten 8 October 2023

It's really beautiful.. Behind the statue lies beautiful blue sea.. What a mesmerizing view.. At night it wud have been more beautiful if there wud hve sufficient light. I guess the lights were not working. But still it's beautiful.

To walk on the promenade at the evening or for the sunrise is a great activity in Pondicherry. There’s a lot going on, with locals and tourists are enjoying the breeze. The statue of Gahndi is a must.

Just as all roads lead to Rome, the seaside promenade is the go-to spot for tourists in Pondicherry. Free of cars, the pedestrian walkway beside the sea, with very attractive buildings alongside, is lovely for an evening stroll.

Not like Goa but then we don't need party everywhere. Evening walk is the best experience on this beach. Tidal noise and winds add to best of experience.

Hi...You can visit pondy and do the site seeing on the same day but if you want to spend more time on each visiting point then you won't be covering all the spots. Plan accordingly.
which is the most enjoying beach in Pondicherry

If you want a beach experience , paradise beach. If you want to enjoy the sea from the banks promenade. Promenade has better food options - I would love to sit on the beach during evening.

I'm thinking of visiting pondicherry with my friend on June. We are on tight budget can anyone suggest cheap lodges

June would be very humid and probably rainy. There are many budget accommodations / home stays available, as can be searched on Tripadvisor also. Early booking will help you get good price. It would be a good idea to try and book at least a day at Auroville.

I along with my wife am planning a trip to Pondicherry during January-February 2017 and like to stay for a couple of days in any guest house in seaside promenade, preferably belong to Aurobindo Society. After having a glance on Trip Adviser reviews, I very much like to stay there and wish to know about the location and accommodation. Regards. Tapas Barman

I haven't stayed there. Just been to the bar and restaurant. It's sea facing. Stay maybe expensive. You may want to check the rates.
