The shop is great but I had a bitten experience - I ordered for a Raspberry Tart and a glass item was in the tart which I showed to the local people at the cafe and they to were shocked and tried their best to convince me to make complaint.

Dear Sir, I first want to apologize for the incident you have incurred in Auracafe. Actually i traced back the "glass" back to our bakery,is was a piece of plastic that broke from our mixie, having said that and being a terrible thing to happen is beyond our control. I was informed intermediately from my staff there and i tried to do the pertinent, but you were already gone and did not wanted to discuss with anyone or accept the bill on the house. Again sorry about it and glad you had a good experience at Aurashoppe .

This is a good place for a trailer; meaning you get an overall idea of what the Ashram shops offer. But better to take their advice on what interests you particularly - the incense, or the papercraft, or the clothes - and head to the specialist ashram shops. Prices are the same, by the way, anywhere.

This store is located along the Promenade and we hopped in several times. It's a nice place to buy souvenirs like handicraft bags, purses, Tops for ladies and fancy items. Price is on the high range , foreign tourists found the place good. It belongs to Auroville.

The shop is the place one enters, but there are always interesting events happening in the hall downstairs.
The bakery is not well stocked, though.

Every product here has a story.

If you meet the lady behind the creation of the store, Vivechana, you would know the passion with which she's picked each product.

Artificial flower lamp? Do you know that only one such exists in the world for it's handmade with love by a local who took 3 months for it?
Wooden toys? Do you know that local artisans made these traditional Tamil toys?

Spend some time here, talk to Vivechana and come back educated! For that is the chief goal for Vivechana who loves to talk about the origin and development of the products. Her aim is to develop local talent and give it a place.

I find that this store is not for an average tourist. It's for those niche visitors looking for something exclusive...products rich with indigenous soulful stories.

Yes...it's pricey but priceless when you realise what goes behind creation of the products. And how well the workers are paid.

When you buy from Aura, you sustain local talent and environment!

I love it!
