i am very surprised that the ratings are do low.. we absolutely loved the market..
we did only a few hundred meters, because of the heat, but i found super deals, which i never found anywhere else in Pondi or India. Very cheap Kurta s and sarees, for 100rs, which i was soo happy with.. small other items, household items, caps, Tshirts, sun glasses, antique shop, scraps etc. i bought lovely fresh spices, home made, way cheaper than in the supermarket..
its very very long this market, and is only on Sunday till about 9pm? i definitely would say, go for it and enjoy your shopping..

Busy would be an understatement.
Packed with small shops & Street sellers. Hustle & bustle all the way.
Slippers at £1, shirts from £2 etc etc.
Not for you if you don't like crowds & motorcyclists veawing there way thru these small streets.

Don't expect any thing here. Not of good standard. Meant only for lower class people. The only advantage is you find plenty of second hand books, be it educational or novels.

I spent two hours walking in the hot sun! All the market sold was sub-standard clothes, cheap Chinese imported electronic goods and assorted broken down machines.
It shouldn't appear as a tourist must-see at all!

I went here with expectations of seeing and buying nice local things.
There is nothing there.
It is just a weekly bazar for local needs.
cheap t shirts, plastic houses hold things, etc.
No quality stuff, nothing one can buy.
The shop cum halters are spread on about 1.5 kms on both sides of road.
It is very crowded and it gets difficult to even walk.
Skip the Sunday market, is my advise.

Lots of goods to buy, a very busy and bustling place to browse and view. A good way to explore the town by foot. Lots of food and drinks served as well.

It is a very very cheap market where you will find nothing worth buying. I found it a waste of time.
