El Parian and the nearby garden were my favorite places of the trip to Guadalajara. They were both interesting, pleasant, excelling at their purpose. Friends told us of the good-natured rivalry between restaurunts for the music and chair space. It was fun to see it all play out while enjoying good food in a lovely place.

El Parian is a large square with an open courtyard and gazebo in the middle. The perimeter building serves as the kitchens for multiple restaurants. There are 3 or 4 restaurants on each side of the square, and the only way you can tell which restaurant you are in is by the chairs. The food is all decent but overpriced... More

I would give this restaurant 4 or 5 stars but the interruptions were ridiculous!! Every 5 seconds someone was selling something or a mariachi asked if we wanted them to play for us!

This is a great place to come and enjoy a nice drink try Las casuelas you can order the tequila on the side or just natural (mixture of grapefruit, limes, oranges). During the summer months they have shows in the afternoon and night of mariachi and folklorico dancers or different singers go up and entertain you for an hour or... More

We stayed 3 blocks from here and visited daily. The shops are great with a little bit of everything. At night this place transforms. The street vendors come out, the music, mariachis, people come out, it's a wonderful experience to walk around and enjoy. We felt safe at night with our 3 kids. Bought tacos, corn, raspadas, ice cream, chips,... More

No need to eat there, but you can go for drinks and relax after a late lunch, when the music and traditional dances start. The place is not very special, just a central interior square with colonial architecture surrounded by restaurants that are not so good. The best restaurants are actually on Independencia, a pedestrian street just a couple of... More

Amazing Mexican cuisine, ambiance, service, decor! They have music at certain times of day different kinds. This IS THE best place in all of GDL! That I can't find it troubles me.

However, we have been there a couple of times on previous visits. Those who recommend going just for drinks and not food are providing sound advice. Much better restaurants nearby and less tourist oriented. Fun to go here when the Mariachis are playing. Few years back, we took out of country friends for a little local color. Three of us... More
