I learned quite a lot about New Zealand’s early settlers and the kauri industry from this museum. Lovely to visit a nice old-school museum with fascinating dioramas - one that hasn’t been ‘Te-Papa-ised’ (full of interactives and touch screens). Entry fee is $15 which helps...More

What a wonderful museum! It is much larger than you realise so give yourself a good couple of hours to explore. Loads of Dalmatian and Gum-digger history along with general history of this area. Definitely worth a visit if you are in this area.

Really interesting local museum but a tad expensive @ $15 pp. Excellent local exhibits from the kauri days and lots of nautical items also.

This museum is a real asset to Dargaville, especially for people like me who have some history in the area. Innovative and involving, extensive and well laid out. Very impressive displays and shop. The man on reception was lovely and most helpful. However, I wandered...More

Content was interesting and enjoyable. More plaques with explanation might be helpful. The brochure states that you may get help with genealogy; however, I was told that I should have booked ahead. No mention of a need for booking a slot on the brochure.
