This is one of those places which calls itself a museum but should find a new description. It's a huge labour of love for the region, history and products. It's run and funded entirely by volunteers who fill the place with love and energy. From...More

We did not realize that there so many interesting things there, Ron was a great tour guide, and it was almost hands on in every fascinating display

Well worth a visit, this museum is jam packed with great artifacts and it large even though it doesn't look that big from the outside. Don't miss this, plan to spend at least 2 hours here

If you want to find out about this area then this is the place. Lots of exhibits about logging, loggers, pioneers and the history of this town and the surronding area. Worth popping in before you visit the Kauri forests to get some background

Didn't expect it to be great - pleasantly surprised. Good gum collection. Nice array of learning formats. The video of the lighthouses was excellent.

The museum punches well above its weight considering the size of the town. Not quiet as good as the Matakohe museum elsewhere in the district, but you would be miserable to complain. Great on a rainy day. The shipwreck exhibits are particularly impressive.
