Cabbage Key is a 100 acre island located five miles off of Pine Island, FL in the Pine Island Sound. The Inn, built in the 1940's by the family of Mary Roberts Rinehart, now houses our famous Restaurant & Dollar Bill Bar and six guest rooms. The rooms in the Inn are all different with old Florida charm - they do not have TVs, phones, or refrigerators. We have seven cottages on the island, ranging from a 1 bedroom/1 bath cottage to 3 bedroom/3 bath waterfront units. All cottages have refrigerators, televisions (no cable) and coffee makers, some units have full kitchens. Our restaurant is open seven days a week and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner. If you want to relax on a beach...we do not have one here. But, Cayo Costa is a close kayak or boat ride away. This is a great retreat to discover "Old Florida", relax with a book, fish from our docks & watch the boats go by.

Amazing experience from the moment we arrived! Old Florida at its best! Excellent food, unique entrees, and superb customer service from every member of the staff. Nicely appointed rooms. This was a perfect weekend escape...with lots to explore on the island and waterways. One of Florida's hidden gems. Can't wait to come back!

Our family has come to Cabbage Key for 15+ years, almost annually, but my dad moved away 7 years ago and we have not been back until last week. What a treat to come to the lunch over Easter weekend. The service was quick and the food was delicious. They crew at Cabbage Key did a wonderful job serving over... More

Stopped in for lunch and had some time afterwards to enjoy the short trail behind the inn. Start st the water tower and get a reasonable 360 view of the 100 acre island. Check out the friendly native box turtles before heading off on the trail. The trail wanders in a loop out thru the scrub brush and mangos. Every... More

Whenever we travel, we love to visit places that are associated with interesting legends, folklore and historical facts. This was one such place. Apparently, many years ago, tired fishermen would come to this “Dollar Bill Bar” to have a few drinks. When leaving, they would sign dollar bills with their name, and then “Bank” them here by taping them to... More

Stopped by for lunch, we had guests with us that had been but we had not. Dock master knowledgeable and funny! No wait to be seated, history on every wall of this place...along with thousands of $1 bills! Lunch was very nice and casual. Don't forget to sign and tape your dollar to the back dinning room, if you can... More

We’re glad to hear you enjoyed our Dock Master. They all work very hard and really appreciate when someone passes along a kind word or two. We have, on average, about $70,000 taped to our walls at any given time, and around $10,000 falls every year, which is donated to various local charities. Some dollars have been there since the...
