About
Our winery is situated on a beach, on the east side of the island, between Kamari and Monolithos settlements. This industrial stone building used to be a tomato factory, built in the beginning of the 1900s. Here, local cherry tomatoes were made into an aromatic tomato purée until the 1970s. With great joy we have renovated this rare, charming building, giving it new life as a winery. For GAIA, it has been an honor to preserve a piece of our heritage through reclamation of this architectural example of industrialization. Today, the high-tech equipment and the cutting edge facilities of our winery guarantee contemporary winemaking and ideal conditions for high quality production. At the same time, in a discrete out-of-the-way vault, we have set up a small oxidization area where we are delighted to produce our rare, sweet, aromatic Assyrtiko vinegar. Small quantities (around 1,500 liters) are bottled annually after five years of ageing in oak barrels in our special cellars.

- barney513Jersey, United Kingdom39 contributionsKnowledgeable staffWe did not book a wine tour, just turned up & selected 2 glasses of wine. The staff were lovely & explained the wines to us. We were given free accompanying snacks & water. The setting of Gaia wines looking towards the sea & other islands is lovely, although when we were there they were working on installing a pipe for another desalination plant, so a boat with a crane was in the middle of the view. Not that it disturbed us, we were still able to enjoy the wine, vista & atmosphere. It is unfortunate that the road & surrounding buildings leading to Gaia wines is run down. As we walked there from Kamari we wondered if had come to the right place!Visited May 2023Written 21 May 2023
- emas2294London, United Kingdom36 contributionsBest wine tasting experienceThe experience is a must do, if ever visit Kamari. The views are spectacular and the wines are delicious. We were really happy that we went for the 8 wines. The experience itself is just very fascinating and also the history and the understanding of the process and he difference between colours, aromas and flavours. The service, the view, the wine and the overall experience was definitely a 10 out of 10.Visited July 2023Written 9 July 2023
- PuppycatbrisvegasMelbourne, Australia252 contributionsA little disappontingThis is a great location, right on the beach and you get to try some wines. We did the 8 flight and upgraded to a cheese platter which was nice with the wine. You do not get to see any winery, production, vines etc. The website is a bit deceiving on that. That is a little disappointing. Our tasting person told us nothing about the vinegar or the shop. Could you buy anything? You just sit next to the beach and try wines. Just tasting size so you do not have too much wine. it is out of the way so had to grab a taxi from Fira to get here. Made it quite an expensive expedition.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 21 July 2023
- AlexBath, United Kingdom369 contributionsGreat wineWe didn’t book and walked from Kamari which took 30 minutes. They gave us lovely table and we sampled 4 wines with snacks. We then chose our favourite and had a full glass & more snacks. It was very nice wine & a lovely way to spent a bit of time by the sea. It was 46 euros in total. If you are a big party I recommend booking.Visited July 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 July 2023
- Noemi C1 contributionMust do experience, great value for moneyLovely location in front of the beach, perfect to relax under the shadow of a tree. The wines are nice and particular, I loved the Vin Santo. The tasting is definitely good value for money, I would highly recommend to choose Gaia Winery for your tasting experience.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 12 August 2023
- Lisa T3 contributionsLovely afternoon experienceA lovely scenic view of the sea; under the shade of a huge tree so not too hot! Wide selection of wines with interesting info to go along with each. My dad and I did the x8 wine experience - very reasonable price and it didn’t feel rushed or pushy. Some tasty snacks provided too as a bonus!Visited August 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 14 August 2023
- laralouWorcester, United Kingdom21 contributionsPerfect afternoonBeautiful location, the staff had great knowledge of the wines and excellent value for money. We tried eight different wines - all delicious. Left with three bottles as significantly cheaper to buy there than in some of the local shops. Would highly recommend a visit if you’re a wine lover.Visited August 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 17 August 2023

Lovely winery by the sea. Laidback setting. Good and through explanation of the label, terroire, various wines and how they’re made. Wines are brilliant too.

We loved it, next too the sea… the wines were delicious. Great value for the experience . Our family lives on the island. We have visited many wineries - from the utmost in contemporary design … to this place that highlights all that is natural and beautiful to the island, we would recommend it 100%

I’ve never visited a winery on the beach. Such a beautiful location to enjoy lovely wines and heaping snacks! This was our second stop as part of a guided wine tour and they reserved our table right near the water. Such a great setting for wine.

Turned up for a wine tasting and some lunch. Only one table being used and every other table empty. Told they were fully booked and could not fit us in! Not impressed - would have been better to have said short of staff as the reason. Anyway would have spent some money there but went to Santorini brewery instead who were very friendly and accommodating.

Better late then never to answer this question. I don’t have the information you are seeking but my wife and I were staying at the Ambassador Aegean hotel and they arranged for a Somalia for a private wine tour just the two of us.
We loved this guy. He was so knowledgeable and professional knew everything about the volcanic soil of the land in Santorini and explained the process surrounding the basket growing process as opposed to the vine process. Wish I could remember his name. Call the Ambassador they would know
