Wonderful trek with a climbing of 900m among fields full of vegetables, small houses and nice people, then inside the pine forest before reaching the top...

There is a decent trail to a secondary summit, but then the last 50 meters can be tricky, especially due to cross wind.
The 208 trail (the numbers refer to the German topographical map) from Assomada to Orgaos skirts the peak, it takes all day and may well be the best hike on Santiago island.
The 205 trail upwards is difficult to find in Longueira. The last 100 meters are very steep.
The way is easier to follow from the Quinta de Montanha, you can use the 205 on your way down,

Great place to climb and to point at trees, rocks and mountains. Also a few goats and birds to point at.

Testing walk up from behind the military base, with narrow vertiginous ledges and loose scree paths. Definitely worth the effort. Superb views from the top across the whole island, and clear to see the differing terrain on each side.
The walk down was just as tricky and the final climb back to the main road a real lung buster! Take a guide who with you.

Situated astride the main road from Praia to Assomada, the scenery here is absolutely spectacular with green valleys, sharp ridges and pointed peaks. The drive is worth it if only for the views of the scenery.
